By the way, such a disc brake pad is strongly pressed against the rotor that rotates together with the wheel during braking, but at this time, the pad vibrates due to the friction between the friction material and the rotor, which causes the vibration. Then, a so-called noise is often generated.

b. Structure of the Invention (Means for Solving the Problem) According to the present invention, which relates to a disc brake pad, according to an experiment conducted by the present inventor, if a portion having a large porosity exists in the friction material, this portion is directly connected to the rotor. It was made clear that the generation of noise during braking can be suppressed even without contact with.

The fact that the friction material 2 has a two-layer structure as described above is the same as the conventional disc brake pad disclosed in the above-mentioned JP-A-56-167929, but in the pad of the present invention, Contrary to the invention described in the above publication, the porosity of the lower layer 3 is large and the porosity of the surface layer 4 is small.

That is, the porosity of the lower layer 3 that directly contacts the backing metal 1 is 12 to 20%.
The porosity of the surface layer 4 is about 3 to 6%, which is almost the same as the porosity of the friction material in a normal pad, and the porosity of the lower layer 3 is higher than that of the surface layer 4. Making it big.

In this way, the porosity of each layer is adjusted by the rubber powder added to the granular material forming each layer when the friction material is fired.
This can be easily done by adjusting the amount of dust such as cashew rubber polymer or the amount of binder.

(Operation) The disc brake pad of the present invention is configured as described above. However, when such a pad is incorporated into a disc brake like the conventional pad to perform braking, noise prevention is not considered. The noise generation rate is reduced compared to the pad.

That is, according to the experiment by the present inventor, the porosity of the surface layer 4 is set to be the same as the porosity of the friction material of the pad which does not consider the conventional noise prevention, and the porosity of the lower layer 3 is plotted on the horizontal axis of FIG. As shown in the figure, in the case of changing in the range of 5 to 20%, the noise generation rate changed so that the noise generation rate became lower as the porosity increased as shown by the vertical axis in the figure.

Further, in the case of the disc brake pad of the present invention, the porosity of the surface layer 4 that directly contacts the rotor during braking is small,
The degree to which the surface layer 4 is worn due to braking is small.

(Application Example) As described above, the disc brake pad of the present invention suppresses the generation of noise during braking while keeping the wear amount of the friction material 2 small, but directly contacts the back metal 1 (back metal 1 The lower layer 3 has a large porosity, and the lower layer 3 is
Water is easily absorbed through the side surface exposed on the outer peripheral surface of the friction material 2.
When the lower layer 3 absorbs water, the adhesion between the lower layer 3 and the backing metal 1 is deteriorated, and in a remarkable case, the friction material 2 may peel off from the backing metal 1. Therefore, as shown by the chain line in FIG. It is preferable to prevent water from entering the lower layer 3 by forming a coating film 5 made of a non-water-permeable oil-based paint on a portion of the side surface of the lower layer 3 exposed on the outer peripheral surface of the friction material 2.
