Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the product life of the capacitor under a temperature higher than normal temperature and to enhance the volume efficiency of the capacitor by eliminating an insulating case by a method wherein the side face of a stacked body for a fundamental element is coated with a water-impermeable resin or the like and the resin is hardened. CONSTITUTION:A stacked body 4 is constituted by piling up gaskets 1 and collectors 2 as fundamental elements 3. In a state that adhesive tapes 10 have been pasted on upper surfaces of the laminated body 4, the side face of the stacked body 4 is coated with butyl rubber 9 which has been diluted by a solvent such as toluene or the like and which is highly water- impermeable, and the butyl rubber is dried and hardened. Then, the adhesive tapes 10 are removed, a metal case 8 is caulked and pressurized via a cathode lead terminal 5, an anode lead terminal 6 and a plastic insulating plate 7, and the capacitor is completed. Terminal extraction electrodes composed of a metal plate are attached temporarily to the outside of the collectors 2 at the end part of the stacked body 4 for the fundamental elements, the whole part excluding the extraction electrodes is coated with the butyl rubber, and the butyl rubber is hardened. Thereby, the insulating property of the capacitor can be enhanced and the variety of its assembly can be achieved. Since the surface of the stacked body for the fundamental elements is impregnated with the butyl rubber, a silicone resin or the like whose water-impermeability is excellent in this manner, the product life of the capacitor at normal temperature or higher can be improved.
