Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the continuation of the useless communication by securing the response of a power OFF request to a monitoring command together with the control of the power OFF and the discontinuation of transmission of the monitoring command by means of a remote power control function contained in a transmitting device. CONSTITUTION:When an operator turns off the power supply of a subordinate transmitting device 6, a power OFF request is responded to the monitoring command given from a monitoring device 1 from a host device 4 of the similar constitution to the device 6 which monitors the device 6 by the remote power control function contained in the device 6. Receiving the response, the device 1 turns off all power supplies of the device 6 and then discontinues the transmission of the monitoring command. Thus a fault is discriminated from a power OFF state by the automatic remote control of the power OFF. Then the continuation is prevented for the useless monitoring command communication carried out by the device 1.

2. Description of the Related Art In a communication network monitoring system, an upper transmission device sends a monitoring command to a lower transmission device, and the lower transmission device sends back a monitoring result in response to the monitoring command to the upper transmission device. When the communication line between the upper transmission device and the lower transmission device is broken, the upper transmission device cannot receive the response to the monitoring command and processes it as no response. Further, even when the power of the lower transmission device is turned off, the response to the monitoring command cannot be received, and the upper transmission device similarly processes as no response. Therefore, the monitoring device cannot identify the disconnection of the communication line and the power-off of the lower transmission device even if the monitoring response is collected from the upper transmission device. When the operator turns off the power of the lower transmission device, it is a normal operation, but the monitoring device treats it as a no-response fault and the upper transmission device continues to send the monitoring command to the lower transmission device.

As described above, since the conventional network monitoring system cannot distinguish between the power-off of the transmission device and the disconnection of the communication line, even if such a failure occurs, the operator on the monitoring device side cannot be distinguished. As a failure report, a non-responsive failure is displayed as a message. Further, when the operator turns off the power of the transmission device, the monitoring device cannot recognize the power-off, so that the transmission of the monitoring command is continued to the transmission device, and unnecessary communication is continued.

In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, when an operator turns off the power of a transmission device, the transmission device transmits a power-off request to the monitoring device, and the monitoring device receiving the request sends the power-off request. Output the power off control command.
After receiving this command, the transmission device turns off the power of the entire device. Also, the monitoring device can change the network operation information and remove it from the monitoring target by sending a power-off control command to the transmission device and setting the power-off flag in the failure bitmap of the transmission device in the monitoring device. , Stop sending the monitoring command to the transmission device.

By controlling the power-off of the transmission device from the monitoring device, the monitoring device recognizes the distinction between the disconnection of the communication line and the power-off of the transmission device, so that the message of the monitoring device can accurately display the situation. Further, since the power-off of the transmission device can be recognized, the monitoring device can exclude the power-off transmission device from the monitoring target and stop the transmission of the monitoring command.

FIG. 1 is a system configuration diagram showing an embodiment of the present invention. Reference numeral 1 is a monitoring device, which comprises a monitoring processing device 2 and a line connection device 3. An upper transmission device 4 is connected to a lower transmission device 6 via a communication line 5. The terminal device 7 is tangent to the lower transmission device. 8 is an online central processing unit,
9 is a CCP. In FIG. 1, the user's online data is transmitted between the CCP 9 and the terminal device 7 via the upper transmission device 4, the communication line 5 and the lower transmission device 6. In this system, the upper transmission device 4 collects the failure information of the lower transmission device 6, and the monitoring device 1 collects the failure information collected by the upper device 4. The upper transmission device 4 and the lower transmission device 6 have a built-in remote power supply control function, measure the line characteristics from the carrier of the partner station received via the communication line 5, and monitor each. Therefore, when a failure occurs, the monitoring processor recognizes the failure item by reporting the failure item to the monitoring command of the higher-level device.

FIG. 2 is a sequence diagram when the lower transmission device is powered off. Normally, a failure response is returned to the monitoring command from the host, but if the operator performs an operation to turn off the power of the transmission device, it is sent back to the host device as a power-off request response in response to the monitoring command. After the monitoring device receives, the power-off control command is sent to the corresponding transmission device. After receiving the power-off control command, the transmission device turns off the power of the entire device. In addition, since the monitoring device can manage the power supply of the corresponding transmission device, the power off flag can be set in the failure bitmap in the monitoring device. Therefore, the transmission device whose power is off can be removed from the monitoring target. If the monitoring device detects a non-response fault without performing the power-off control as described above, it can be recognized that the communication line is broken.
