Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a safe composition for the preservation of wood from decay and exhibiting remarkable synergistic effect by using an antiseptic heavy metal compound, a nitrogen compound selected from ammonia, ammonium salts and short-chain amines and a specific boric acid ester oligomer as essential components. CONSTITUTION:This wood preservation composition is composed of (A) an antiseptic heavy metal compound (e.g. hydroxide, carbonate, sulfate, chloride or acetate of copper or zinc), (B) a nitrogen compound selected from ammonia, ammonium salts and short-chain amines (e.g. monoethanolamine) and (C) a boric acid ester oligomer of the formula ((w), (x) and (y) are 1-50). The wood preservation composition exhibits excellent preservation effect when diluted with water and applied to wood by a proper method. Since the composition is free from poisonous heavy metal such as chromium and arsenic, it is excellent from hygienic point of view and can safely be treated.

2. Description of the Related Art Woody materials are used as building materials in houses and structures, and are also frequently used as furniture and other general industrial materials or general civil engineering materials. Most of the deterioration of the wood-based material is caused by wood-rotting fungi or feeding damage by pests, and a method of applying an aqueous wood preservative or the like to the surface of wood or the like to protect the wood-based material from these deteriorations. There is. However, simple application is not enough to achieve long-term preservation, and the most effective method is to inject and infiltrate the preservative into the wood under pressure. Once permeated, it can be expected to have a high effect on decay and insect damage.

As a wood preservative used for such treatment, an aqueous chromium-copper-arsenic compound-based wood preservative (hereinafter abbreviated as CCA) has been favorably used conventionally, but it is toxic. Since it contains heavy metals, it may cause environmental pollution when disposing of treated wood, which is not desirable for hygiene. Therefore, instead of CCA, there has been an attempt to use a preservative having less hygienic problems. For example, an aqueous solution of copper sulfate or an aqueous solution of copper ammonia has been proposed.

However, none of these conventional low-toxicity agents exhibit antiseptic properties comparable to those of CCA, and further low-toxicity agents having high antiseptic and insecticidal effects are desired. Was there. Therefore, the present invention aims to provide a low-toxic wood preservative composition that is safer for humans and the natural environment than the conventional wood preservatives and has an excellent preservative effect.

Next, the above-mentioned chemicals were pressure-injected into the test pieces of Japanese cedar sapwood by adjusting the injection conditions so that the chemical retention amounts shown in Table 2 were obtained, and JIS A 9201 "Wood The antiseptic performance of each drug was evaluated in accordance with the "preservative performance standard and test method". The results are shown in Table 2 as the average value of the weight loss rate (%) due to the propagation of decay fungi for each 9 test pieces. As the decaying fungi, two types, Pleurotus cornucopiae and Pleurotus cornucopiae, were used.
