Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a handle grip with a pulse meter to be mounted on the handlebars of a bicycle, a bicycle type health machine or the like. CONSTITUTION:In a bicycle type handle grip 1 of cylindrical shape where fingers are directly touched when a rider is on, the handle grip is provided with a recessed part 2 where a pulse sensor 4 is mounted, a shade wall 3 which is mounted in the vicinity of the recessed part by being bent to the recessed part side, and a lead wire 5 connecting the pulse sensor to a pulse meter 7. Thus, it is unnecessary to hold the earlobe of a person whose pulse is measured and it is safe because the movement of the head is not limited. The fingers in measuring the pulse are positioned by the shade wall, and the fingers are brought into close contact with the grip by the shade wall. This constitution prevents the disturbance of the solar light or the like from being entering, eliminates the mistaken measurement, and the errors in measurement are small. The lead wire to mount the pulse meter and the sensor can be shortened, leading to sufficient protection against the noises and the accuracy of measurement is improved. In addition, when a lead wire passing part is provided in the grip, it is unnecessary to make a hole in a handle bar, and the insertion is facilitated.

2. Description of the Related Art Heretofore, in order to check the physical condition during training on a bicycle, the pulse rate is sometimes measured while the bicycle is running. In that case, the pulse sensor is fixed to the earlobe with a clip, and the pulse sensor and the pulse meter main body are connected by a lead wire. Further, there is disclosed a grip with pulse detection in which a handle grip is provided with a recess surrounded by a ridge, and a pair of a light emitting element and a photosensitive element are provided side by side on the bottom surface of the recess (Actual No. 59-140704).

However, the above-mentioned conventional techniques have the following problems. In the former case, the lead line of the pulse sensor attached to the earlobe hangs down on the side of the body, and the direction of the face does not become free, so it is dangerous while running and turn the neck left and right. There is also a problem in that the clip easily comes off and the reliability of the measurement is affected, and the measurement is performed in a posture different from the actual posture while running.
