Description of the Related Art As is well known, an electrolyzed water (ionized water) generator has a cathode plate and an anode plate facing each other through a diaphragm in an electrolytic cell. By applying a positive potential to the plate, alkaline ionized water is generated near the cathode plate and acidic water is generated near the anode plate. Thus, in the above-mentioned apparatus, when electrolysis of water is carried out for a certain period of time or longer, stains (scales) such as calcium hydroxide adhere mainly to the cathode plate, which becomes a factor of inhibiting electrolysis. Therefore, conventionally, a method called a reverse electrolysis cleaning method has been used in which a voltage of opposite polarity is applied between the negative and positive plates to electrically elute the calcium hydroxide and the like.
