Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable natural facing communication without a missing part in an image by providing a hole in a reflection-type screen, arranging a camera in the rear part of it and arranging a semi-spherical mirror and a reflection mirror between them. CONSTITUTION:The hole 12 is provided at the display part of the reflection-type screen 11 in a display device displaying a human image and, at the back surface of it, a semi-spherical body 13 with a half mirror coat on its internal surface, whose radius is larger than the diameter of the hole, is fixed so as to permit the sphere center of the semi-spherical body to be located at the external part of the hole 12. In the rear part of the semi-spherical body 13, the camera 14 for picking-up the human image through the hole 12 is arranged. Then, poralizing filters 16 and 17, whose poralizing directions are respectively made to be orthogonal each other, are arranged in the front surface of the camera 14 and in the front surface of the projecting lens of a projector 15 so that projected light is prevented from being incident on the projecting camera 14. Moreover, the part covered by the semi-spherical body 13 forms a back surface screen 18 by the screen with reflection efficiency being higher than that of the reflection surface in the front surface on the back surface of the display screen 11.

2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, with the development of image communication technology, video (TV) telephones and video conferencing services in which remote areas are connected by image and voice communication networks are becoming widespread. FIG. 4 shows the display of a standard image communication terminal and the arrangement of the image pickup unit. In the case of this terminal configuration, a camera 1 for photographing the observer 19
4 must be installed outside the frame of the display device 21. As a result, the photographed person is either in the vertical or horizontal image 22 depending on the position of the camera 14 for photographing.
Is displayed as an unnatural image with a shift in the line of sight, and natural face-to-face communication cannot be performed. In order to solve this problem, a line-of-sight matching method using a half mirror has been proposed. The principle is shown in FIG. The half mirror 23 is arranged so as to be inclined to the front surface of the display surface of the display device 21, and the reflected image of the person is photographed by the imaging camera 14 to obtain a line-of-sight image.

However, when the line-of-sight matching method using the half mirror is used, the size of the half mirror installed in the front part of the screen increases as the display screen size increases, and the terminal installation space becomes smaller. There is a problem such as a sudden increase in size, so there is a problem in using it for applications such as a visual telephone that displays a full-sized image of a person above half size, or a video wall that displays a life-sized image on a wall.

(Embodiment 1) FIG. 1 is a schematic configuration diagram showing a schematic configuration of Embodiment 1 of the present invention. In FIG. 1, a reflection type screen 11 of a display device for displaying a person image.
The hole 12 is provided in the display part of the, the radius is larger than the diameter of the hole on the back surface, and the hemisphere 13 with the half mirror coat on the inner surface is fixed so that the center of the hemisphere is located outside the hole 12. is doing. Behind the hemisphere 13, a camera 14 for taking a human image through the hole 12 is installed. Polarization filters 16 and 17 having polarization directions orthogonal to each other are arranged on the front surface of the camera 14 and the front surface of the projection lens of the projector 15 so that the projection light does not enter the camera 14 for photographing. A portion of the back surface of the display screen 11 covered by the hemisphere 13 forms a back screen 18 with a screen having a higher reflection efficiency than the front reflecting surface. The projection light from the projector 15 is 1 on the inner surface of the hemisphere 13.
After being reflected once, an image is formed on the rear screen 18. The reflected light from the rear screen 18 is reflected again on the inner surface of the hemisphere 13 and forms an image at the same position (that is, the position of the hole) 12 where there is originally no hole in the screen. Therefore, the observer 19
As shown in FIG. 2, it is possible to observe an image in which there is no omission in the position of the hole 12 on the screen 11 and the lines of sight match.

(Embodiment 2) FIG. 3 is a schematic configuration diagram showing a schematic configuration of Embodiment 2 of the present invention. A hole 12 is provided in the central portion of the reflection type screen 11 of the display device, and a half mirror 31 is installed immediately after the hole 12 so as to be inclined with respect to the screen surface. A camera 14 for photographing a human image is installed behind the half mirror 31 via a polarization filter 16. A polarization filter 17 orthogonal to the filter on the front surface of the camera 14 is arranged on the front surface of the projection lens of the projector 15 so that the projection light does not enter the camera 14. The incident light reflected by the half mirror 31 enters a small reflecting screen 32 arranged above it, and a projected image is formed thereon. The reflection image from the reflection screen 32 is reflected again by the half mirror 31, forms an image at the image forming position 33, and is observed by the observer 19. In this case, the imaging position 33
Is behind the screen surface 11 by the optical path length up to the screen 32, but when the size of the half mirror 31 is small, the difference in optical path length is negligible. It can be observed as an almost continuous image.
