The dust collected by the vacuum cleaner is stored in the dust collection chamber for a certain period. In the meantime, dust absorbs moisture and dust with moisture is sucked in, so the humidity becomes appropriate. Therefore, bacteria attached to the garbage propagate and spoil the garbage.
Therefore, when the vacuum cleaner is operated, the suction air contains an unpleasant odor component as well as a large number of bacteria when it passes through the dust portion, and discharges it into the room. It had the drawback of being contaminated.

As described above, when the ozone decomposing catalyst is provided, not only the main body of the cleaner becomes large, but also the cleaner becomes expensive. Also, even though an ozone decomposition catalyst is provided,
Since the air passing through the catalyst has a high wind speed, there was a problem that not all ozone was decomposed.

The present invention, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, selectively uses an ozone generator for diffusing ozone in the dust collecting chamber of the cleaner body and the ozone generator or the electric blower of the cleaner on the same power source side. And a timer for stopping energization to the ozone generator after a predetermined time has elapsed since the ozone generator was driven by switching the selector switch.

According to the present invention, when the vacuum cleaner is in operation, the electric blower side is energized as usual to perform suction work.
When the operation of the vacuum cleaner is stopped, that is, when the changeover switch is switched from the electric blower drive contact side to the ozone generator drive contact side, the ozone generator is driven to generate ozone, and this ozone is diffused into the dust collection chamber. Deodorizing and sterilizing actions are performed by the oxidizing power of the ozone.

An ozone generator 13 is housed in the storage unit 10 as a storage unit partitioned by the partition plate 12 having the structure. The ozone generator 13 comprises a high-voltage generator 14 for pulse discharge and an ozone-generating electrode unit 15 for generating ozone by performing silent discharge with a high voltage from the high-voltage generator 14, and at the time of driving it. The ozone is generated, and the ozone is diffused into the dust collecting chamber 6 through the ventilation holes 11, 11 ... Of the partition plate 12 by using a difference in ozone concentration or a blowing fan or the like as a driving force.

Therefore, when the changeover switch 16 is changed over from the changeover contact a to the side b, the power switch 19 is turned on in association with the operation, the electric blower 7 is driven, and the normal suction operation is performed.

When the cleaning work is completed and the operation of the cleaner is desired to be stopped, the changeover switch 16 is changed over to the contact b.
It suffices to switch from the to the a side, and at this time, the electric power supply to the electric blower 7 is stopped. On the other hand, since the power switch 19 is still in the closed state, power is supplied to the timer 20 and the ozone generator 13 through the rectifying stack 18 and the smoothing capacitor 21, and the ozone is removed by using the non-operating time of the cleaner. Oxidizing action of ozone generated from the generator 13 deodorizes and sterilizes the dust collection chamber 6.

Since the present invention is configured as described above, ozone is generated by the ozone generator for a predetermined time by using the vacuum cleaner's operation stop period, and ozone is efficiently supplied to dust in the dust collection chamber. Deodorization and sterilization can be performed reliably and efficiently. Moreover, since the ozone generator does not operate while the electric blower is operating, ozone is not released indoors, and therefore ozone is not emitted. The ozone decomposition catalyst that prevents the ozone from being released indoors is not required, and the cleaner body can be downsized.

Furthermore, since the timer stops the energization of the ozone generator after the lapse of the required time, it is possible to reliably prevent ozone from leaking from the dust collection chamber due to forgetting to turn off the electricity of the ozone generator. Can be reliably prevented from being released into the room.
