[Industrial applications]

The present invention relates to an antistatic connector, and more particularly to a connector used for electrically connecting circuit conductors of one and the other printed circuit boards.

【0002】[0002]

[Prior art]

As is well known, board-to-board connectors for connecting the above-mentioned printed circuit boards to each other are often used, but in these connectors, when a connector operator handles the connector, the operator is electrically charged. Measures are taken to prevent static electricity from flowing to the terminals. The following is an example of this type of connector with conventional antistatic measures.

That is, one conventional technique is disclosed in Japanese Utility Model Laid-Open No. 35672/1993. This consists of a female connector with female terminals mounted on the terminal mounting part of the housing and a male connector with male terminals mounted on the terminal mounting part of the housing. The metal cover of is attached by a hinge structure so that it can be opened and closed, and the female terminal that elastically deforms when connected to the male terminal of the male connector, its contact part contacts the male terminal of the male connector before contacting the male terminal of the male connector. It is exposed outside the plane. That is, before fitting, the contact part is located between the window of the metal cover and the top surface of the housing with the openable metal cover open.

[Problems to be solved by the device]

According to the above-mentioned conventional technique, the static electricity charged to the connector operator is discharged to the metal cover in front of the female terminal that is outside the housing top surface when the male and female are mated. Can be achieved.

However, there are points to be improved in the following points. That is, since the metal cover for electrostatic discharge is attached to the housing so that it can be opened and closed by a hinge, there is a limit to the simplification of the metal cover mounting structure, and due to the complicated structure, the metal cover housing is limited. It becomes difficult to automate the mounting process to the. Furthermore, since the metal cover is opened and closed, the metal cover moves each time male / female fitting is performed and each time the metal cover is pulled out, and there is an element that moves in this way, so there is a problem with durability.

Further, since the female terminal of the female connector is exposed to the outside of the top surface of the housing before male and female mating, it may be touched unexpectedly, leading to contamination of the contact portion of the female terminal. In addition, there is a problem that it is likely to cause deformation, which may cause a failure in electrical connection.

Therefore, the object of the present invention is not only to provide a connector for preventing static electricity, but also to simplify the mounting structure of the metal cover for electrostatic discharge as compared with the prior art. An object of the present invention is to provide a connector having a metal cover which is easy to automate the process of attaching the metal cover to the housing and has strength and high durability. Another object of the present invention is to provide a connector in which there is no risk of accidentally touching the female connector terminal and the female terminal will not be contaminated or deformed.

[Means for solving the problem]

In order to achieve the above object, the present invention has the following technical means. That is, the present invention will be described with reference to the reference numerals in the accompanying drawings corresponding to the embodiments. According to the present invention, the female connector 1 in which the female terminal 4 is mounted in the terminal mounting portion 3 of the housing 2 and the end of the housing 22. An antistatic connector comprising a male connector 21 in which a male terminal 24 is attached to a child attachment portion 23, and a metal cover 11 connected to an antistatic earth bar 15 is attached to the female connector housing 2; A metal cover 11 connected to the earth bar 15 is fixedly covered on at least the top surface 10 of the female connector housing 2 excluding the opening 12 of the terminal mounting portion 3 through which the male terminal 24 passes. The female terminal 4 that elastically deforms in the terminal mounting portion 3 of the female connector housing 2 when it contacts the male terminal 24 of the male connector 21 contacts the male terminal 24 of the male connector 21. Before a antistatic connector, characterized in that the contact portion 6 is accommodated in the terminal mounting portion 3 of the housing 2.

[Action]

With the above configuration, when the male connector 21 is to be mated and connected to the female connector 1, the terminal mounting portion 23 of the male connector housing 22 is inserted into the opening 12 of the female connector, and the contact portion 26 of the male terminal 24 is inserted. Contact the contact portion 6 of the female terminal 4 of the female connector 1. At this time, the static electricity charged to the connector operator is discharged to the metal cover 11 to take measures against static electricity. By the way, since the metal cover 11 is fixedly covered on the top surface 10 except the opening 12, the mounting structure of the metal cover 11 to the housing 2 is simple and the mounting process is easy to automate. In addition, the strength and durability of the metal cover are increased. Since the female terminal 4 of the female connector 1 is always present in the terminal mounting portion 3 and the contact portion 6 thereof does not go out of the top surface, there is no fear of being touched accidentally.

Next, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. FIG. 1 shows the male and female connectors 21 and 1 in a non-connected state, and FIG. 2 shows a mated and connected state. 3 to 7 show the female connector 1, and FIGS. 8 to 15 show the male connector 21 and the male terminal 24 used therefor. Therefore, the female connector 1 will be described first. This has a housing 2, and the housing 2 is formed with a terminal mounting portion 3 which communicates with the outside through an opening 12 on the top surface. A female terminal 4 is attached to the terminal mounting portion 3, and the female terminal 4 has a horizontal portion 17 that extends horizontally toward the upper side with the bent portion 5 that is bent in a U shape in the middle. And a rising part 18 that rises a little steeply beyond that, a contact part 6 provided at the end of the rising part 18 with a gentle slope, and a seat bent inside the tip of the contact part 6. On the other hand, it has a base part 7 attached to the floor part 16 of the housing 2 and a solder tail part 9 which is bent at a right angle at the tip of the base part 7. There is. What is important here is that the female terminal 4 is elastically deformed in the terminal mounting portion 3 by coming into contact with the contact portion 26 of the male terminal 24 of the male connector 21, which will be described later. That is, all of the female terminals 4 are located inside the terminal mounting portion 3 of the housing 2 even in the state in which is not added. That is, the contact portion 6 is not exposed to the outside of the top surface 10 of the housing 2. The top surface 10 of the housing 2 is covered with a metal cover 11 except for the opening 12 through which the male terminal 24 passes. The metal cover 11 is fixed to the top surface 10. In addition, the front and rear surfaces of the housing 2 are fixedly covered with the front and rear portions 13 of the metal cover 11, and the left and right side surfaces 14 of the metal cover 11 are fixedly fixed on the left and right side surfaces of the housing 2. It is covered. A horizontally extending earth bar 15 is integrally connected to the left and right side surfaces 14.

Next, the male connector 21 side will be described with reference to FIG. A flat floor 29 is formed on the housing 22 of the male connector 21, and a terminal mounting portion 23 is formed on the floor 29 so as to project therefrom. The terminal mounting portion 23 is sized so that it can be inserted into and removed from the opening 12 of the female connector 1 described above. Further, reference numeral 24 indicates a male terminal, and the male terminal 24 is mounted in the groove of the terminal mounting portion 23 so that the contact portion 26 thereof is located on the top surface 25 of the terminal mounting portion 23. That is, the male terminal 24 is bent downward at the front with the contact portion 26 in the middle to form a front mounting portion 30, and also at the rear thereof is also bent downward to form a rear mounting portion 31. Although the tip is bent at a right angle to form the solder tail 27, the above-mentioned front mounting portion 30 is embedded and fixed in the front mounting groove 32 of the terminal mounting portion 23, and the rear mounting portion 31 is connected to the rear mounting groove 33. It is attached to the terminal mounting portion 23 in a fixed state. Further, mounting pieces 28 are integrally provided on the lower surface of the floor portion 29 of the housing 22 on both left and right sides.

Next, a method of using this connector will be described with reference to FIGS. In these figures, the female connector 1 is mounted on one printed circuit board 40. The male connector 21 is mounted on the other printed circuit board 50.

As can be seen from FIG. 1 showing the unconnected state, the female terminals 4 of the female connector 1 are all located in the terminal mounting portion 3, and the contact portions 6 of the female terminals 4 are the top surface of the housing 2. It does not project to the outside of 10 and the metal cover 11. Therefore, an unexpected external force is not applied to or touched on the contact portion 6 of the female terminal 4, and the female terminal 4 is prevented from being contaminated or deformed.

In the process of shifting from the state of FIG. 1 to the state of FIG. 2, static electricity charged to the connector operator is discharged to the metal cover 11 to take measures against static electricity. That is, it does not flow to the male and female terminals. Then, as shown in FIG. 2, the contact portion 26 of the male terminal 24 of the male connector comes into contact with the female terminal 6 of the female connector 1 for electrical connection. At this time, the female terminal 4 elastically deforms at the bent portion 5, and the tip of the seat portion 8 sits on the floor portion 16. Immediately elastic force urges the contact portion 6 toward the contact portion 26 side of the male terminal 24, and maintains an appropriate contact pressure. Moreover, the contact portion 6 of the male terminal 4 is substantially horizontal and uniformly contacts the contact portion 26 of the male terminal 24. As can be seen from FIG. 2, in the connector of the present application, when the terminal mounting portion 23 of the male connector 21 is fitted, it goes into and out of the opening 12 of the housing 2 of the female connector 1 and the female terminal of the female connector 1 is inserted. Reference numeral 4 is one that is elastically deformed in the terminal mounting portion 3.

In the above description, a pair of male and female connectors are focused on for the sake of clarity, but the housing 2 of the female connector 1 has a plurality of female terminals 4 horizontally arranged at a predetermined pitch. It is also installed. That is, the terminal mounting groove 3 is formed on the housing 2 side by side with a predetermined pitch. In addition, the plurality of terminals 4 are arranged in the housing 2 so that the respective contact portions 6 are in a staggered arrangement as a whole. Therefore, one terminal mounting groove 3 and the terminal mounting grooves 3 adjacent to the one terminal mounting groove 3 are formed in the housing in a staggered arrangement. This is shown in the states of FIGS. 6 and 7, which show lines 6-6 and 7-7 of FIG. 4, respectively. On the other hand, also in the male connector 21, the terminal mounting portions 23 projectingly formed on the floor 29 are arranged in a zigzag arrangement as a whole, and the male terminals 24 are arranged in a zigzag arrangement as a whole. .

As described above in detail, according to the present invention, the static electricity charged to the connector operator can be discharged through the metal cover to take measures against static electricity, and the metal cover for this purpose is fixedly coated on the female connector housing. Therefore, the metal cover can be easily attached to the housing, and the metal cover attachment process can be easily automated. Particularly, the strength of the metal cover and the female connector is increased, and the metal cover has an advantage of being highly durable. In addition, the female terminals of the female connector are entirely inside the terminal mounting part inside the female connector housing, and the contact part is not exposed outside the top surface of the housing even before mating, so an unexpected external force is applied. No matter what, there is no risk of contamination or deformation.
