Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a black recording fluid which gives a high-quality printing and a high-density record image even when used for recording on a plain paper, is excellent in resistances to water and light, and has a good long-storage stability by compounding a specific black dye into the fluid. CONSTITUTION:A recording fluid contains an aq. medium and at least one member selected from dyes represented by formula I (wherein A is an optionally substd. phenyl or naphthyl group; B is an optionally substd. phenylene or naphthylene group; R is H or an optionally substd. alkyl group; M is an alkali metal, an ammonium group, or an org. amine group; and n is 0 or 1). The fluid may contain various additives; for instance, the addition of 0.1-10wt.% (based on the whole fluid) urea, thiourea, biuret, or semicarbazide or 0.001-5.0wt.% (based on the whole fluid) surfactant further improves the drying speed and printing quality.

2. Description of the Related Art A so-called ink jet recording method has been put into practical use in which a recording liquid droplet containing a water-soluble dye such as a direct dye or an acid dye is ejected from a minute ejection orifice to perform recording. Regarding the solvent of this recording liquid, it is fast to fix to recording papers that are commonly used for general office work such as PPC (plain paper copier) paper such as electrophotographic paper and fan hold paper (continuous paper such as computers), and the printing quality is high. Is required, that is, the print has no blur and the contour is clear, and the stability during storage is also required, and the usable solvent is significantly limited.

On the other hand, dyes for recording liquids have sufficient solubility in the above-mentioned limited solvents, are stable even when stored for a long period of time, and have a density of printed images. It is required to have high water resistance and excellent light resistance and light resistance, but it is difficult to satisfy many of these requirements at the same time. Therefore, various methods (for example, JP-A-55-144067 and JP-A-55-152) are used.
