クスにはなるべく多くの単3形乾電池を装着したいが4
本束ねると単1形乾電池の直径より1mm程度はみだし
てしまう。この程度なら普通の単1形乾電池ボックスに
収納可能であるが少しでもはみだしを抑えるため単3形
乾電池の装着は側面からのはめ込み式で第1図(a)の
ように単1形乾電池の本体胴部分の中央部を中心の軸を
残して削ぎ取った形になり単3形乾電池を横からはめこ
むと上下の端子支持盤1、2で挟み固定される。単3形
乾電池を4本装着した場合の縦方向の断面図が第1図
(b)でクロス斜線部分が正負両極の接続端子と電極。
斜線の部分が絶縁材料で出来た正極と負極の端子支持盤
1、2でその両方をつなぎ固定するのが支柱3である。
支柱3の断面は第1図(c)に示す通り単3形乾電池を
均等に束ねた場合の真ん中にできる空白部分をそのまま
埋める形となっている。この断面形状を採用することに
より普通の円断面に比べて支柱の強度が大幅に増ししか
も乾電池の装着保持が定位値に確実に保たれる。この乾
電池ボックスの接続方法は並列接続であるから単3形乾
電池を一本だけ装着した場合でも使用可能である。又、
直列接続で3V、4.5V、6Vの発生電圧を得ること
も可能である。そのためには単3形乾電池は4本全て装
着し接続端子をそれぞれ独立させ配線を正負端子間に往
復させれば出来る。3本挿入装着タイプを第2図に示
す。この場合単1形乾電池の外穀内に単3形乾電池が3
本スッポリ収まるので図のように挿入式に出来るため外
観は単1形乾電池と同じにすることができる。
