Conventionally, as this type of masking material, there has been provided a structure in which an adhesive layer (3) B is provided on one surface of a panel-shaped main body (3) A made of a plastic foam as shown in FIG. The masking material (3) having such a structure is adhered via the adhesive layer (3) B to the surface (2) of a member such as an automobile floor panel (1) which should not be surface-treated. After that, apply surface treatment such as painting. Thus, as shown in FIG. 13, for example, in the case of painting, a coating film (4) is formed, but since the predetermined surface (2) of the floor panel (1) is covered with the masking material (3), the coating film (4) is formed. (4) is not formed. After that, the masking material (3) is softened and shrunk by heating, for example, in a coating and baking step, and the masking material (3) is naturally detached by its own weight as shown in FIG.

In the above prior art, the body (3) A of the masking material (3)
Since the adhesive layer (3) B is provided on the entire surface of the adhesive layer, the adhesive force to the surface (2) is large, and when the masking material (3) is softened and shrunk by heating and spontaneously released by its own weight, the adhesive layer (3)
The adhesive force of B hindered smooth desorption, and the melted material of the masking material might remain on the surface (2).

The masking material (31) of the present invention is adhered to the surface of the member, which should not be subjected to the surface treatment, through the adhesive layer (31) C, and covers the surface to protect it from the surface treatment. After the surface treatment, if the plastic sheet constituting the masking material (31) is heated to a temperature above its softening point, the masking material (31) is softened and deformed and spontaneously desorbs by its own weight. At this time, since the adhesive layer (31) C of the masking material (31) is present only on the flange portion (31) B, the adhesive force to the surface is small, and the adhesiveness against softening deformation and natural detachment of the masking material (31). Almost no interference of layer (31) C. Moreover, the ratio of the plastic film to the apparent volume of the masking material is much smaller than that of the panel-shaped one made of the plastic foam (the actual volume of the plastic foam and the apparent volume of the masking material in the panel-shaped one). equal). Therefore, the masking material of the present invention has a significantly improved shrinkage rate as compared with the conventional panel-shaped masking material. Therefore, the shrinkage force of the masking material at the time of heating increases correspondingly, and the masking material is easily detached spontaneously. Further, the plastic film has excellent heat resistance and solvent resistance at a temperature below the softening point as compared with the plastic foam.

Therefore, in the present invention, the masking material is hardly fused to the covered portion, and is smoothly separated by heating. Further, since the masking material of the present invention is in the shape of a container, the material cost can be significantly reduced as compared with the case of a panel-shaped masking material.

The masking material (31) is peeled off from the release paper (31) D, and the brim (3
1) After being adhered to the surface (2) which should not be subjected to the surface treatment of a member such as an automobile floor panel (1) through the adhesive layer (31) C on the upper surface of B, as shown in FIG. As shown, a coating film (4) is formed by applying a surface treatment such as painting. However, since the surface (2) of the floor panel (1) is covered with the masking material (31), the coating film (4) is not formed. After the completion of coating, the masking material (31) is softened and deformed by heating in a coating baking process or the like to shrink the masking material (3).
As shown in the figure, the masking material (31) is detached from the surface (2). The masking material (31) may be used so as to cover the projection (2) A on the surface of the floor panel (1) as shown in FIG. In this case, the protrusion (2) A is protected by the container-shaped body (31) A of the masking material (31) and is not surface-treated.

The masking material (32) is formed by removing the release paper (32) D from the collar (3).
2) It is affixed to the periphery of the hole (21) of the floor panel (1) of the automobile, for example, through the adhesive layer (32) C on the upper surface of B, and then, as shown in FIG. 4) is formed. In this case, the coating film (4) is in a state of being cut at the upper edge of the bent portion (32) E of the collar portion (32) B of the masking material (32) as shown in FIG. The bent portion (32) as shown in FIG.
It is formed so as to wrap around the upper edge of E and be easily cut. Therefore, when the masking material (32) is heated to be softened and deformed and then contracted, the coating film (4) becomes
The upper edge of the bent portion (32) E of the collar portion (32) B of 2) is easily cut, and the masking material (32) can be easily separated.

The masking material of the present invention is mainly made of thermoplastics such as polystyrene, polyethylene, polypropylene, etc., and is formed by a well-known method, for example, vacuum forming a film of the plastic or injection molding using pellets of the plastic. It is manufactured by The plastic contains calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate,
Barium sulfate, aluminum hydroxide, magnesium oxide, titanium oxide, iron oxide, zinc oxide, alumina, silica, diatomaceous earth, dolomite, gypsum, talc, clay, asbestos, mica, glass fiber, calcium silicate, bentonite, white carbon , Carbon black, iron powder, aluminum powder, stone powder, blast furnace slag, fly ash and other inorganic fillers, wood powder, coconut powder, walnut powder, starch,
One or more fillers such as cotton fiber powder and wheat flour may be mixed. In the case of the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 to 5, for example, as shown in FIG.
It is desirable to arrange (31) vertically and horizontally and integrally vacuum-form. In this case, the release paper (31) D is cut into the brim portion (31) B of the masking material (31) and the notch (31) F is formed, and the brim portion (31) is further cut.
Notches or grooves (31) G are provided on one side or both sides of B so that the individual masking materials (31) can be easily torn off by hand. The notch or groove (31) G of the collar portion (31) B may be integrally formed during vacuum forming of the masking material (31), or may be separately formed after vacuum forming. In the case of the embodiment shown in FIGS. 6 to 10, injection molding is suitable.
