(Background of the Invention) As is well known, absorbent cotton for absorbent articles such as disposable diapers has been made of cotton-like pulp or super absorbent polymer covered with absorbent paper. Recently, in terms of portability and wearability, efforts have been made to make it as small and thin as possible.

However, in this case, the amount of absorbent material such as cotton pulp must be reduced, so the strength of the absorbent material is reduced, and the absorbent material may be torn or ruptured during use, resulting in leakage of urine, etc. It is also a cause of, and the solution of the problem was desired.

In addition, in disposable paper diapers and sanitary pads, when excretions from the body are absorbed, peculiar unpleasant odors are generated. In the case of urine, urea, amine acid, etc. in the urine are changed into ammonia and the like by microbial decomposition, and as is well known, a peculiar unpleasant odor is generated. In addition, it is considered that physiological odor is also generated by microbial decomposition of excreted amine acid and the like.

Heretofore, methods such as using activated carbon zeolite have been proposed as a means for preventing these odors, but there is still nothing to be satisfied such as an increase in price.

(Object of the invention) In order to solve the above problems, as a result of intensive studies by the present inventors, the dialdehyde starch not only improves the strength of the absorbent, but also prevents odor such as urine excreted from the body. However, they have found that they are extremely effective, and have reached the present invention.

As the liquid absorbing material, any of those which are usually used in diapers and daily napkins can be used. For example, it is possible to use a thin paper laminate such as Teisyu paper, a mixture of flat pulp or a powder of a polymer water-absorbing agent for improving the absorbency of liquid in the flat pulp, a sheet in which the powder is arranged in layers, and the like.

For cotton-like pulp, an absorbent material having excellent strength and deodorizing ability can be easily obtained by spraying an aqueous solution of dialdehyde starch and then drying and compressing with a hot roll. Similar to the water-absorbent paper, by adding 0.1 to 0.5% (to pulp), it is possible to bring about a great strength improving effect and prevent ammonia odor and the like generated from urine and the like.

Dialdehyde starch may be added to any of water-absorbent paper, cotton-like pulp, and superabsorbent polymer, but from the viewpoint of expecting both effects of improving strength and imparting deodorizing ability, water-absorbent paper or cotton-like pulp is preferred. It is desirable to add to either or both.

Although the mechanism by which the strength of the dialdehyde starch is improved is not clear, it is known that the hydroxyl groups present in water-absorbent paper and cotton pulp and the aldehyde groups of the dialdehyde starch form a hemiacetal bond or an acetal bond. It seems that the strength is improved by this. In addition, regarding the mechanism of removing malodor, although it does not go beyond the presumed range, it may be possible that dialdehyde starch and urea, amino acids, ammonia, etc. in excretions from the body combine to inactivate it. Conceivable.

以下、実施例に基づき、本発明を更に詳しく説明する。Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in more detail based on examples.

Example 1 A 10% by weight solution of dialdehyde starch having an oxidation degree of 80% (manufactured by Nippon Carlit Co., Ltd., Caldas-oxidation degree 80.8%, hereinafter abbreviated as DAS-80) was added to cotton-like pulp at a concentration of 0,0.1,
0.3, 0.5, 1.0% (the weight ratio of DAS-80 to pulp) was added, and the both sides were sandwiched by water-absorptive, 13
It dried with the hot roll of 0 degreeC.
