バーロック縫い目が形成されるとともに、縫い針33と
二重環縫い用ルーパー(図示略)とにより二重環縫い縫
い目が形成され、また、縫い針33を取り外して縫い針
32のみをセットした状態で縫製を施すと、オーバーロ
ック縫い縫い目のみが形成される。操作レバー27を係
止位置に操作すると、図4に示すように、係止ピン29
が上ルーパー駆動カム6と一体的に回転するクラッチ爪
22の係合部22bの移動軌跡上に移動し、クラッチ爪
22の係合部22bが係止ピン29に当接する。このと
き、上ルーパー4は略下限位置に移動しており、更に上
ルーパー駆動カム6がバネ部材24の付勢力に抗して回
転すると、図5・図6に示すように、爪部22aが凹部
14aから分離されてクラッチ機構7が非伝達位置に切
り換えられるとともに、主軸1とともに連れ回りしよう
とする上ルーパー駆動カム6の回転で爪部22aが凹部
14aから離れる方向に付勢され、基本的にこの付勢力
とバネ部材24の付勢力との釣り合った位置に上ルーパ
ー駆動カム6が保持されて、図5に図示のように、上ル
ーパー4が針板上面20から突出しない下限位置より少
し上昇した休止位置であって下ルーパー34と干渉しな
い休止位置に保持される。この状態で、オーバーロック
縫いの為の縫い針32を針棒33から取り外し、布端付
近以外の部分に対して二重環縫いを施すことが出来る。
尚、係合部22bと係止ピン29との係合時の衝撃は、
バネ部材24が伸長されることによるエネルギ吸収作用
で吸収され、両者に大きな衝撃が作用することはない。
操作レバー27を退避位置に切り換えると、係止ピン2
9が係合部22bから離れて爪部22aがカラー部材1
4の外周面に当接され、主軸1と上ルーパー駆動カム6
