CONSTITUTION:A power switch 9 is turned on and a circuit part 8 generates driving pulses to a motor 4 to slide a carriage 6 in the direction shown by an arrow A. The number of pulses that are generated until the moment a fin part of the carriage 6 passes a home position sensor 7 are stored in the circuit part 8. Thereby, the position of the carriage 2, i.e., the position of the print head 1, at the time the power switch 9 is turned on is recognized, and the circuit part 8 selects a process logic corresponding to the position.
