Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent wasteful discharge of a secondary battery by making a multiple connection of the head lamp, a generator, a solar battery and the secondary battery to each other, detecting the traveling/stopping by means of the output of the generator, and turning on/off a switching means where the secondary battery is connected to a head lamp. CONSTITUTION:The power generated by a solar battery 8 is charged into a secondary battery 10 when a bicycle is left in a sunny place in the day time. In this condition, the output of a generator 5 is zero. Since the first and the third switching means T1, T3 are turned off, a head lamp 2 is turned off, and the secondary battery 10 is not discharged. Then, in the case of traveling at night, the power is generated by the generator 5 which is a traveling detecting means, and the electromotive force is rectified by a full-wave rectifier 12, this is applied to a base of the third switching means T3. When T3 is turned on, a delay capacitor (C) is charged instantaneously. At the same time, the second switching means T2 is turned on and a tail lamp 3 is turned on, and the first switching means T1 is turned on to light the head lamp 2.

2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, a lighting device for a headlight of a bicycle is generally one that uses an electromotive voltage of a generator that generates power as wheels rotate, and one that uses a dry battery. However, the method of (1) causes no light when the vehicle is stopped or traveling at low speed, which is a problem in terms of safety measures. Therefore, it has been proposed that a secondary battery is provided and charged by a generator, and the secondary battery is turned on by the discharge current of the secondary battery when the vehicle is stopped or traveling at a low speed. However, there is a drawback that the load on the generator increases, the rotation of the pedal becomes heavy, and the traveling performance is poor.

The method (1) does not have the drawback that the headlight cannot be turned on and the pedal rotation becomes heavy unlike the method when the vehicle is temporarily stopped or running at a low speed, but since the bicycle has a small battery storage space, it does not have a battery. Limited in capacity,
The battery must be replaced frequently, which is uneconomical, and if you forget to replace the battery, you will be forced to run without lights, which is dangerous, and if you forget to disconnect the battery, it will cause unnecessary battery consumption. There are drawbacks.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION In consideration of the above-mentioned drawbacks, the present invention keeps the safety at the time of temporary stop or low speed running, improves the running performance, and prevents the headlight from being uselessly turned on. By the above means, since the generator is not operated during the daytime, the switching means is OFF, and the secondary battery is charged by the solar cell in this state. When night driving is started, the switching means is turned on by the control circuit, the headlights are turned on by the secondary battery initially, and by the generator when the running speed increases, and when the vehicle speed decreases, the control circuit switches for a predetermined time. The means is turned on and the headlight is turned on and then turned off.

Next, when the vehicle travels at night, electric power is generated by the generator 5 which is the traveling detecting means, and this electromotive voltage is rectified by the full-wave rectifier 12, which is applied to the base of the third switching means T3 and turned on. Then, the capacitor C is instantaneously charged, the second switching means T2 is turned on to turn on the tail lamp 3, and the first switching means T1 is turned on to turn on the headlamp 2.

The headlight 2 and the taillight 3 are turned on by the secondary battery 10 when the vehicle speed is not sufficient and the voltage of the generator 5 is lower than the voltage of the secondary battery 10, and by the generator 5 when the vehicle speed becomes high. Of course, when the secondary battery 10 is insufficiently charged, it is charged by the generator 5.

In the above operation, the headlamp 2 is turned on by the secondary battery 10 when the secondary battery 10 is being charged, so that the load on the generator 5 is small and the pedal travel becomes easy. Further, since the tail lamp 3 is used as the collector resistance of the second switching means T2, the collector current (for example, several meters) is used.
A to several tens of mA) can be effectively used for lighting the tail lamp 3 without wasting it. Further, since the lighting time of the headlight 2 when traveling at low speed or at a stop is limited to a predetermined time, wasteful consumption of the secondary battery 10 can be prevented, overdischarge can be prevented, and the solar cell 8 can be downsized. Also, the secondary battery 10 can be downsized.

According to the present invention configured as described above,
The secondary battery is charged by the solar cell and the generator to turn on the headlight, so the headlight can be turned on even when the vehicle is stopped or running at low speed, and the safety can be maintained. By charging the battery at a low level, the load on the generator can be reduced and the running performance can be improved. Further, since the switching means is turned on by the operation of the control circuit for a predetermined time after traveling and after stopping traveling, wasteful discharge of the secondary battery can be prevented, and the solar cell and the secondary battery can be downsized and the secondary battery can be downsized. It has a great effect of reliably preventing over-discharge of the battery.
