2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, a cathode ray tube has been mainly used as a display element for displaying a color television image, but a conventional television tube has a very long depth as compared with a screen, and a thin television receiver is manufactured. It was impossible to do. Moreover, although EL display elements, plasma display elements, liquid crystal display elements, etc. have recently been developed as flat panel display elements, none of them are sufficient in terms of performance such as luminance, contrast, color reproducibility of color display. However, it takes time for practical use. Therefore, for the purpose of achieving a device capable of displaying a color television image on a flat panel display device using an electron beam, the screen on the screen is divided into a plurality of sections in the vertical direction. The electron beam is deflected vertically for each to display a plurality of lines, and further divided into a plurality of sections in the horizontal direction so that phosphors such as R, G, and B are sequentially emitted in each section,
The television image display device is used as a precedent example by controlling the irradiation amount of the electron beam to the phosphors such as R, G, and B by the color image signal.

The operation of the image display device thus constructed will be described below. The line cathode 1 as an electron beam source is horizontally stretched by a leaf spring 7 attached to the supports 2a and 2b so as to generate an electron beam linearly distributed in the horizontal direction. A plurality of 1's are provided at appropriate intervals. (7 here
(Only a book is shown) This is expanded and shown in FIG. The wire cathode 1 is an insulating support 2b fixed to the back electrode 5.
It is supported by and is fixed by the leaf spring 7. In order to eliminate the variation in brightness, the distance between the line cathode 1 and the control electrode 3 and the back electrode 5 is important. Therefore, while measuring the pitch dimension and the depth dimension using an optical measuring instrument or the like, The V-groove portion 8 is processed in one place and within an error within a few μm. These wire cathodes 1 are, for example, φ1

A control pulse is controlled so that the electron beam is sequentially emitted for a certain period of time, and a heat current flows in order to raise the temperature at which the electron beam is generated at a time other than the certain period of time. Further, at the start, the control pulse for the electron beam emission and the heating current are applied to the line cathode 1 at the same timing. The back electrode 5 is a line cathode 1 that is controlled to emit an electron beam for a certain period of time.

And, it works to push out the generated electron beam only in the forward direction. The mesh-shaped control electrode 3 allows the electron beam to pass through a slit that is long in the horizontal direction and faces each of the line cathodes 1, and at the same time deflects the electron beam in the vertical or horizontal direction. A round hole may be used instead of the slit. The phosphors 4 are provided with one pair of phosphors of three colors R, G, and B for each electron beam divided in the horizontal direction, and are applied in stripes in the vertical direction. .. After these component parts are inserted into the divided containers 6a and 6b, they are sealed with a frit or the like to keep the internal vacuum.
