瓶の蓋に凹部を設けて、その凹部の底に貼付した
感熱呈色体の色彩が魔法瓶の内容物の温度の変化
に伴つて変色する現像を利用している。けれど
も、魔法瓶にはJIS規格もあつて、湯の温度低下
防止(保温)の目的で、蓋に充分な上下寸法の厚
さ(深さ)を形成して断熱することが求められ
る。ところが凹部を形成すると上下寸法の厚さが
小さくなり、外気と瓶内空気の距離が接近して断
熱不良になり、または感熱呈色体から熱が輻射す
る。そこで、もし仮に熱の輻射を小さくする目的
で感熱呈色体や凹部を小口径にすると、それは断
熱に及ぼす悪影響を軽減することができるが、そ
の結果として、感熱呈色体は暗い穴底に位置して
