CONSTITUTION:An engine overspeed detection unit 13 is connected to the output part 2a of an alternator 2 attached to an engine 1. The detection unit 13 is provided a frequency detection circuit 14 which detects frequency of AC current generated in the alternator 2, a conversion circuit 15 which converts a frequency output signal of the circuit 14 to voltage, and a standard setting circuit 16 in which a standard voltage value at the time of overspeed is set. When the voltage output signal of the conversion circuit 15 is larger than the standard voltage value of the standard setting circuit 16, a comparison circuit 17 outputs an overspeed signal to a warning circuit 9, and an engine stop means 10 is operated by the output signal.
