Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the current consumption of liquid crystal by performing the pulse conversion of a liquid crystal driving voltage. CONSTITUTION:An oscillation circuit 1 outputs a pulse signal 8. A liquid crystal driving voltage pulse generating circuit 2 inputs the pulse signal 8 and the liquid crystal driving voltage 6 outputted by a liquid crystal control part 3 and outputs a liquid crystal driving voltage 7. Further, a liquid crystal control part 3 outputs a liquid crystal control signal 5 to a liquid crystal panel 4, which is controlled. At this time, electric power is reduced by the duty ratio of the pulse signal 8. Namely, the pulse conversion of the liquid crystal driving voltage is performed to reduce the total time of the application of the liquid crystal driving voltage to the liquid crystal panel 4 to a half as long as before on condition that the power consumption of the liquid crystal panel 4 is equal and the duty ratio of the pulse signal 8 is reduce to half.

2. Description of the Related Art A conventional liquid crystal driving method is, as shown in FIG. 2, a liquid crystal control section 3 for outputting a liquid crystal drive voltage A6 and a liquid crystal control signal 5, and a liquid crystal for inputting the liquid crystal drive voltage A6 and a liquid crystal control signal 5. It has a panel 4. The liquid crystal drive voltage A6 always outputs one potential.

In the conventional liquid crystal driving method, since the liquid crystal driving voltage A6 is constantly applied to the panel, there is a method other than lowering the liquid crystal driving voltage in order to reduce the power of the liquid crystal. There wasn't. However, in that case, there is a problem that sufficient contrast cannot be obtained due to the characteristics of the liquid crystal, and it becomes invisible depending on the temperature.

As described above, according to the present invention, the total time applied to the liquid crystal panel of the liquid crystal drive voltage input to the liquid crystal panel is compared with the conventional case by pulse-converting the liquid crystal drive voltage. When the power consumption of the liquid crystal panel is the same, the duty of the square wave is halved.
