データを送受信中に共通線を使つて制御信号を転
送できるとか、回線個別信号にない豊富な信号が
定義できるなどの利点がある。このような利点を
もつ共通線信号方式をデータ処理装置と交換機間
の通信に適用する場合、従来、データ処理装置は
共通線信号方式をサポートしていないため、ハー
ドウエア及びソフトウエアの大幅な改造が必要と
されていた。
