[Conventional technology] In recent years, as the processing of handicrafts using leather materials has become popular, the progress in processing technology has also been remarkable.
The products incorporate advanced processing methods in terms of sewing and design. Particularly, as a feature of processed leather products, there is a method of applying patterns by relief treatment on the surface of the leather, and furthermore, there is a coloring process to such patterns.

Conventionally, the pattern coloring method for this type of leather craft has been to carve a pattern and then paint it with a paintbrush using a water-based coloring material.

This coloring process using a paintbrush is basically the same as a general painting technique, and the result is similar to watercolor painting, and it is also possible to give it the feel of oil painting by applying thick layers. There is no particular difference in the color painting method. However, on the other hand, it also has the special feature that the colored surface is made of leather.

That is, when coloring leather materials with water-based paints, which are preferred as colorants from the viewpoint of quick drying and storage stability, staining and color spots are likely to occur due to the water absorption of the leather materials. There is a concern that wrinkles may occur due to expansion of the leather surface when it absorbs water, and for this reason, special dyes and pigments are provided as coloring agents for this type of leather material. However, there were technical conditions such as the need to apply layers of colorants diluted in water, and to work quickly. Furthermore, when applying partial gradation coloring to a pattern, the gradation process is applied with water after painting with a brush, so in order to effectively carry out such a coloring process under the above conditions, considerable experience and advanced skills are required. Technology was needed. In addition, this method of painting can be inconvenient in that it is difficult to apply the color to the backing material, and there is a risk that the texture of the material may be affected. Ta.

According to the present invention, a picture pattern is engraved on the surface of a leather material that has been subjected to a base treatment such as background dyeing by means such as carving, and then the outline edge of the picture pattern that is sharply cut by the engraving is formed. After applying edge treatment to press the edges to the side to be cut, apply masking paper to the leather surface, cut out the paper along the pattern, and apply coloring material to the cut out part by spraying means to color the leather. This can be achieved by law.

Leather, which is used as a material for handicrafts, undergoes ground dyeing to form the basic tone and surface treatment such as removing water repellency to make it easier to work with. After that, the leather is subjected to normal treatments such as drying, and then patterns, etc., are applied to the surface of the leather by conventionally known engraving means.

Of course, this engraving work is carried out in accordance with a pre-prepared sketch, but the engraved design often does not always match the sketch due to modifications to the design during the work. Therefore, it is not a good idea to prepare the die-cut masking paper used in the method of the present invention together with a sketch in advance.

Therefore, the masking paper is cut out along the completed engraved pattern. In this process, the masking paper coated with a pressure-sensitive adhesive or the like is releasably pasted on the outline part engraved on the pattern holder and the part not intended for coloring, and then the masking paper coated with a pressure-sensitive adhesive or the like is releasably attached to the outline part of the pattern, and the masking paper is releasably applied to the outline part of the pattern part and the part not intended to be colored. Make an incision in the paper.

At this time, an intermediate work process in which a hammer tip or the like is applied to the edge of the outline of the design that stands out due to carving, etc. during the engraving process, and the edge is pushed out to flatten it toward the cutting side. As the length of the masking paper increases, the cutting process of the masking paper by the knife edge etc. can be easily and safely performed.

This spraying process can be done thinly to the extent that it blurs the ground dyeing, or thickly by overlapping spraying, and then after drying, another cutout masking paper is attached and the process is repeated. It is possible to do this freely.

The drawing is a cross-sectional view of a main part showing an example of the processing procedure of leather material according to the method of the present invention, in which an engraving 2 is made by carving on the surface of a leather material 1 that has been subjected to a base treatment along the outline of a pattern. Due to this engraving 2, the edge of the picture pattern part 3 is formed into an upright piece 4 cut perpendicularly from the epidermis surface.

Next, as shown in the second figure, the cut edge along the outline of the patterned portion 3 is pressed down in the direction of the arrow with a hammer, with an abutment member attached thereto. As a result, the upright piece 4 is pushed out toward the cut-off side as shown in the figure.

In this state, a removable masking paper 5 coated with a pressure-sensitive adhesive or the like is pasted on the part,
An incision 6 is made in the paper 5 along the edge 3' of the picture pattern section 3 which has been pressed and arranged in the above process. Through this cut 6, a portion 5' of the paper 5 corresponding to the separated picture pattern portion 3 is peeled off. As a result, the paper 5 is cut out along the picture pattern section 3.

Then, the water-dissolved coloring material is sprayed onto a predetermined portion of the patterned portion 3 in the presence of the masking paper 5 which has been cut out using a spray gun or a mesh sprayer. In this coloring by spraying, when considering the state of the colored finish, it is effective to use a coloring material that has an appropriate viscosity and is composed of fine particles. For this reason, water-based pigments are preferable; As a commercially available product, the most suitable colorant for leather is the one that is popular under the trademark "Lowpassex."

When such a coloring material is used, the sprayed pigment 7 is scattered microscopically on the three surfaces of the picture pattern, and by harmonizing with the base dyeing, a gradation effect can be easily obtained. Of course, it is possible to apply a thick coating by increasing the amount of spraying, or by performing a secondary spraying after primary drying, and it is also possible to perform treatments such as overcoating different colors.

In addition, in the above-mentioned series of work processes in the method of the present invention, the work of pressing the contour edges of the picture pattern part 3 by carving makes the cutting work of the masking paper 5 in the next step easy and safe, and also creates a curved surface on the contour part. This emphasizes the embossed effect on the pattern area 3, and also allows the outer skin of the contour area to be left behind to form the curved surface. Therefore, when coloring, the water absorption conditions of the material surface are maintained in the presence of the skin in the entire area of the image area. It is possible to make the color uniform and prevent color unevenness caused by stains, and it is effective in making the blurring effect by the spraying process even better.

As described above, according to the method of the present invention, after the pattern is engraved on the leather material, an intermediate processing step is performed in which the sharp contour edges are pressed and lined up, and then a coloring material is applied by spraying means with the interposition of masking paper. First of all, coloring in the adhesion process does not require advanced techniques and can be done quickly without spotting and shading, so even beginners can easily do it without making mistakes, and the finish is easy to achieve with a brush. Unlike the case of coloring, coating etc. gives a unique appearance, and in particular, in a colored state with a gradation effect, it is possible to obtain an unparalleled finished state.

Moreover, according to the method of the present invention, in the processing of masking paper, the contour edges of the engraved patterns are pressed and lined up in advance, so that the cutting edge can be easily and reliably processed during paper cutting. The method of the present invention is particularly effective when applied to the field of handicrafts as a means for coloring this type of leather material, as the relief effect of the pattern can be enhanced by the treatment.
