Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain the radiation of heat by a simple natural air cooling system without using a fan by providing an opening at the bottom part of the screen display panel case of a device in which the screen display panel case and a main body case are constituted as a folding type in order to realize a natural convection. CONSTITUTION:At the time of this device, a main body case 1a is horizontally placed, and a display panel 2a is opened and set up. The opening 1c of the main body case 1a is matched with the opening 2d of the display panel 2a. Air flows in from the opening 1b at the bottom part of the main body 1a, the inside heated air rises through the matched opening to the display 2a, and flows out of the opening 2c at the edge part(upper part) of the display panel 2a. The display panel 2a is almost vertical so as to act as a funnel, and the heated air can be suck in from the opening 1c of the main body case 1a, and the heated air can be efficiently emitted to an outside. は筐体が閉じられた構造となっており、放熱がなされな
い。放熱の対策がなされているものでも、ディスプレイ
部、本体それぞれに小さな開口窓が開けられているに過
ぎない。

の折りたたみ構造では本体ケース内に機能素子を数多く
搭載し、高密度化を図っている。計算機能,メモリ容量
が増すにつれて本体ケース内全体の発熱量が増大傾向に
ある。ディスプレイ部には液晶パネルとパネルを照明す
るライトが数本内蔵されている。画面10インチのライ
トの消費電力は15〜25ワットである。このため、本
体ケース,ディスプレイケース内部にそれぞれに発熱が
あり、このような温度上昇は本体ケース,ディスプレイ
内部にそれぞれで素子の劣化、接合箇所の強度低下を引
き起こしやすいという問題がある。このため本体ケー
ス,ディスプレイ部内の放熱,冷却方法を簡単な構造で
実現することが必要である。一方、放熱を促進する方法
として単にファンを取り付けて強制空冷するということ
が考えられるが、ファンを取り付けることは消費電力が
増大すること、構造が複雑になることのため良い方法で
はない。本発明の目的はファンを用いない簡単な自然空
冷による方式で放熱を実現することにある。

【実施例】以下、本発明の実施例を図1から図3を用い
て説明する。 〈実施例1〉図1は本体ケース1aに両側面のピン3を
中心にして回転する液晶表示パネル2aを取り付けた携
帯用パーソナルコンピュータの側面の断面図である。使
用状態では表示パネルは本体ケースに対し垂直〜40°
傾斜させて用いる。この状態で本体ケースの開口1cと
表示パネル底の開口2dとは向い合って位置する。両開
口は表示パネルが40°傾斜したとき丁度開口が一致す
るが、垂直状態では10ないし20%ほど閉じられるこ
とになる。液晶表示パネル2aの後にはパネル照明用の
バックライト4が設置されている。縦に2〜4本並べら
れたバックライトの間に上下方向に付けられた条溝があ
る。これら溝の端部には開口窓2cがあけてある。パー
ソナルコンピュータを使用しないときの状態を図2に示
す。折りたたみ構造であるので折り返したとき表示パネ
ルケースは本体ケースと重なって水平になる。表示パネ
ル底部は凸状の円弧、これに対する本体ケースは凹状と
なり、両者はすきまなしの状態で回転できる。折りたた
まれたとき表示パネルケース底部の開口はケース表面に
現れない構造としている。このため、ケース底開口から
のごみ,塵などの侵入が防止されている。また、表示パ
ネルは折りたたまれたとき開口2cは下向きとなり、ご
みの侵入が防止される。 〈実施例2〉図3に本体ケースの後部に開口1dを設け
た構造を示す。開口1dは図4に示すように本体ケース
の後部側面の全体に分散させて付けている。この後部の
開口以外は実施例1と構造は同じである。この後部開口
により本体ケースの後部に溜った空気が外へ流出する。 以上、自然空冷方式の折りたたみ構造の筐体について述
べてきたがこの筐体は金属薄板,プラスチックなど種々
な材料の場合にあてはまる。また、筐体はパーソナルコ
ンピュータのみならず、ワークステーション,ワードプ
ロセッサなどの電子機器に適用できるものである。

れた空気は開口から表示パネル内を上昇し、開口出口か
ら外へ流出する。これらの流出経路は表示パネルがほぼ
垂直となっているため煙突の役目をはたしている。この
煙突の働きにより、本体ケース内の空気は効率良く外部
へ吐き出される。以上、通電して構造の電子機器を使用
するとき、機器内の空気は循環が効率良く行われるた
め、自然空冷により熱冷却の効果が大変大きい。
