基布に接続する工程だけであり、従来の短冊状の規制部
材及び伸長制限部材を個々に取付ける方法に比べ格段に
工数と部品点数とを減らし、極めて簡便かつ効率的に、
また材料歩留りを良くして規制部材ならびに伸長制限部
材を具備するエアバッグを製造しうるとの顕著な効果を
奏するものである。

【特許請求の範囲】[Claims] 【請求項1】 インフレータを取着する開口部を有する
インフレータ側基布と、該インフレータ側基布とほぼ等
しい外形を有する乗員側基布と、上記インフレータ側基
布とほぼ等しい外形と開口部とを有し、かつ該開口部の
回りに前記インフレータの噴出ガスを連通させる連通穴
を放射状に複数穿設せしめた規制部材用布とを用い、上
記インフレータ側基布の裏面に規制部材用布を重ね合わ
せて、これらの開口周縁部を縫合する第1工程と、上記
インフレータ側基布の表面に、その表面が向かい合うよ
う乗員側基布を重ね合わせて、これら両基布と上記規制
部材用布の外周縁部を縫合する第2工程と、上記規制部
材用布の前記連通穴同士の間に形成される複数の帯状部
をつまんで各々2つ折りすると共に、この2つ折りした
帯状部を該折り端部から所要長さの位置で縫合すること
により各帯状部の長さを縮める第3工程と、上記2つに
折って縫合した帯状部の一方の基部を切断すると共に、
この切断した帯状部を前記乗員側基布の中央部付近に接
続することにより、インフレータのガス噴出によるエア
バッグの乗員側への伸長を制限する伸長制限部材を形成
する第4工程と、上記裏返して縫製された各基布を反転
させ表に返す第5工程とからなることを特徴とする運転
席用エアバッグの製造方法。
