タエンジン、4はホストコンピュータとの間で相互通信
を行うホストインターフェース、5はプログラムやフォ
ント等を格納する読み出し専用メモリ(ROM)、6はペ
ージバッファ,受信バッファなどの作業用で使用する読
み書き可能なメモリ(RAM)、7は1〜6の相互間を接
続するバスである。また図2において、8はメッセージ
を表示する表示部、9は操作可能なキーである。次に上
記実施例の動作について図3ないし図5のフローチャー
トを参照して説明する。キーコード登録時操作パネル2
でキー9が押下されると押下されたキーのキーコードが
発生し(キーにより発生するキーコードは異なる)、キー
9が押下された順番に発生したキーコードをCPU1に
よって指定するプログラムNo.としてRAM6に登録・
格納する(S1〜S5,S10)。そして、登録されたプログ
ラムを呼出すためにプログラムNo.を指定すると、登録
されているキーコードを順番に読出してキーの処理を行
う(S1,S6,S7)。また操作パネル2に専用のキー9
を複数個用意し、プログラムの登録を該専用のキーに対
応させて格納する方法をとると、プログラムに対応する
専用のキーを押下することにより登録されているキーコ
ードを順番に読出して処理を行うことができる。専用の
キーが無い場合には、従来何かの機能が割当てられてい
るキー9にプログラム呼出しの機能を割当てる。この場
合は、従来の機能とプログラム呼出しの機能との切り替
えが必要となる。機能を切り替える方法としては、キー
を押下したときにどちらかの機能を選択するという方法
(図4)、あるいは、プログラム呼出しモードというモー
ドを用意して、該モードがONのときはプログラム呼出
し機能を、モードがOFFのときには従来の機能を行う
ようにする方法がある(図5)。ただし、何れの場合も
プログラム呼出し機能が割当てられていないキーの場合
には従来の機能のみを実行する。

かの機能が割り当てられているキーにプログラムを呼出
す機能を割当てることにより、キーを増やすことなく機
能を実現できるという効果を有する。
