(Prior art) Wood, decorative wood veneers, etc. used for furniture and fittings have been treated with various dyes and colorants, and chemical colorants such as iron sulfate, potassium permanganate, and ferric chloride have been used. This emphasizes the wood grain. Furthermore, as a physical method, unevenness was added to the wood surface to emphasize the wood grain.

On the other hand, with regard to wood itself, there is a need to improve the durability of wood building materials due to the increasing stock of high-quality housing. Particularly in the case of wooden houses, when wooden materials are used for foundations and other structural parts, it is strongly desired to prevent wood rot and ant damage due to moisture from below the floor and internal condensation within the walls.

For this reason, preservative wood that has been pressure-impregnated with preservatives and other chemicals, or preservative wood that has been coated with an oil-based chemical such as creosote oil, has been used.

However, in the wood grain enhancement and preservative treatment mentioned above,
There was uneven penetration of dyes, colorants, chemicals, etc., and the effects were not sufficient and time was required for rework. Furthermore, the processing equipment itself has become larger, causing problems such as increased costs.

(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, the present invention stores and processes wood materials in a halogen gas atmosphere at room temperature and pressure. The present invention provides a treatment method that emphasizes the wood grain and simultaneously performs antiseptic treatment.

(Structure of the Invention) In the treatment method of the present invention, first, various woods, sawn boards, and decorative veneers are used as wood materials.

On the other hand, chlorine gas is used as the halogen gas.
That is, a wooden material is stored in a sealed container, the air in the container is replaced with chlorine gas at normal temperature and pressure to create a chlorine gas atmosphere, and the container is kept sealed for about 1 to 12 hours. If the moisture content is more than 15%, excess hydrochloric acid will remain in the wood, and if it is less than 5%, the treatment will take a long time due to decreased reactivity.

The amount of chlorine gas varies depending on the size, shape, etc. of the wood material to be treated, but is preferably about 1 to 10% of the weight of the wood material. In addition, when chlorine gas is to be penetrated into the interior of the wood material, it is also possible to carry out depressurization and deaeration treatment as a pretreatment, add chlorine gas to normal pressure, and perform gas phase treatment.

(Effects of the Invention) By the adjustment of the present invention, the surface of the wood material becomes darker in color and the wood grain becomes clearer. This is especially noticeable in the autumn wood of general wood. It is also particularly effective on wood with unclear grains, such as Japanese pine and South Sea wood.

Furthermore, the treatment with chlorine gas suppresses the increase in moisture in the surface layer of the wood material, and the reaction with the chlorine gas increases the insect repellent and antiseptic effects.

In this way, wood grain enhancement is achieved through a gas-phase reaction using chlorine gas, so compared to conventional methods, the wood is colored more uniformly and has no color unevenness, giving it a luxurious feel.

On the other hand, the wood material obtained by the treatment method of the present invention has extremely lipophilic properties, so even when applying creosote oil etc. to obtain a more complete preservative effect, it can sufficiently penetrate into the deep layers of the wood and improve the preservative performance. A further improvement can be obtained.

Example 1 Tsuga wood (thickness 10mm, width 100mm, length 10000mm)
Set the moisture content to approximately 13% and leave it in a sealed container.
Then, the air in the sealed container was replaced with chlorine gas to create a chlorine gas atmosphere inside the container, and treatment was performed at a temperature of 20° C. for 12 hours.

The obtained rice tsuga wood was colored brown as a whole, and the grain of the wood was noticeably darkened, especially in the autumn wood part. The water repellency on the surface of this rice tsuga wood lasts approximately 20 to 30 minutes, suggesting improved preservative performance.
