Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject composition for coating the surface of, for example, high-gloss and water-resistant corrugated fiberboard by admixing a specific solid-based amount of paraffin wax emulsion to an acrylic emulsion containing colloidal silica. CONSTITUTION:An acryl emulsion or styrene-acryl emulsion having about 30wt.% of colloidal silica content, 40 to 45wt.% of the nonvolatile components and 100cPs viscosity is combined with 0.2 to 2%, based on the solid components, of a paraffin wax emulsion and they are mixed by stirring using a customary mixer to give the objective composition for adjusting the sliding resistance of water-repellency-finished paper. For example, liner paper for corrugated fiberboard is coated with the composition on its surface using a bar coater, dried at room temperature, heated at 180 deg.C for 60 seconds, further conditioned at 20 deg.C and 65% relative humidity to give the objective water-repellency-finished paper with excellent water repellency, sliding resistance, gloss, load stack collapse and beautification effect of the cases.

2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, a water-repellent corrugated ball box that has been widely used in the distribution process of water-containing agricultural products such as fruits and vegetables is used in a papermaking process of a base paper or a corrugated ball liner. It is obtained by applying a water repellent in the process of laminating and manufacturing a corrugated ball sheet. As a conventional water repellent, an emulsion containing paraffin wax as a main component,
Alternatively, a mixture of a paraffin wax emulsion and a small amount of a synthetic resin emulsion diluted with water is used.

However, the conventional water-repellent corrugated box is
It has a defect that the slip angle is 15 to 25 degrees (coefficient of static friction) and it is easy to slip. Further, because the gloss value of the processed base paper is low, a glossy printed matter cannot be obtained, and it is unsuitable for obtaining a glossy cosmetic step ball.

Conventionally, there has been a demand in the market for a water-repellent processed paper having a large water repellency, a non-slip property, and a gloss. Until now, the needs of these markets have been demanded. There is no water-repellent step ball that retains the ability to meet the above requirements.

The slipperiness of a water repellent used in a surface coating of a paper for a cardboard is determined by the characteristics of a synthetic resin used in combination with a paraffin wax. Conventionally used water repellent resin components include petroleum resin, rosin-modified maleic acid resin, styrene-modified maleic acid resin,
Aqueous solutions and emulsions of acrylic resins, styrene-modified acrylic resins, etc. are used, but when these resins are used in combination with paraffin wax, the compositions have low sliding angles.

Further, the liner paper coated with the water repellent is a corrugated board.
40 ° C at 160 ° C to 180 ° C during the sticking process of the paper sheet.
It is required to have heat resistance because it is heated for about 60 seconds, but there are few general-purpose synthetic resins having the above heat resistance, and the material thereof is limited. The inventors of the present invention have conducted earnest research on a resin that has slip resistance, heat resistance and glossiness without losing its water repellent effect in combination with a paraffin wax emulsion, and as a result, contains silica fine particles as the core of the emulsion. It has been discovered that a silica composite emulsion containing silica composite fine particles has an effect of attaining the above object.

The use amount of the paraffin emulsion according to the present invention is limited to 0.2% to 2% as solid content.
That is, when it is 0.2% or less, sufficient water repellency cannot be obtained,
On the other hand, if it exceeds 2%, the water repellency becomes large, but sufficient slip resistance cannot be obtained. A practically preferable amount used is in the range of 0.3% to 0.8%.

[Function] By mixing the paraffin wax emulsion and the colloidal silica composite emulsion, the slipperiness of the mixture can be freely adjusted, and the conventional water-repellent step
The sliding angle due to the coefficient of static friction was 30
Great slip resistance was obtained over the range of 50 to 50 degrees. Furthermore, a high gloss value can be obtained by the composition of the present invention, and a step-like gloss can be obtained.
A great effect was also obtained on the beauty of the box.

The above static friction coefficient means that when an object having a plane bottom is placed on a plane and the plane is gradually inclined, the object starts to slide at a certain angle. The normal cut of the angle at this time is called static friction coefficient.
