【従来技術】従来、ピストンにピストンリングを装着し
た後、これをシリンダーに挿入するときに使用するピス
トン挿入工具としては、図1に示すように鉄板を円筒状
にまいて作った円筒1の外側に帯状しめ具2を巻きつ
け、しめ金具3に六角ネジ等を挿入して帯状しめ具の円
周を短かくしたり、長くしたりして、ピストンリングを
シリンダーに丁度挿入するのに好都合なサイズに調整
し、この挿入工具をシリンダー上に手で固定し、一方の
手でピストンリングを装着したピストンをシリンダー内
に挿入していた。従来の挿入工具は、鉄板で作られてい
るため、板の肉厚が薄く真円を保てず、また、下手をす
ると鉄板の一部がシリンダー内にはいり込んでいたりす
ると、挿入時の入口径は実際のシリンダー径より小さく
なってしまうため、ピストンリングを痛めた状態で挿入
することになる。またガイド板内壁垂直方向に板端段差
が生じるので、ピストンリングエッジでシリンダライナ
にきずを付けることがある。またオイルリングまたはリ
ングエクスパンダが捩じれ、運転初期から油消費が多
く、煙を出すことがある。挿入時にピストンリングが痛
んだかどうかは、正しくチェック、管理することができ
ないため、整備不良をおこす原因となる。また、この従
来型挿入工具は、上と下の円筒1の直径が同一であるた
め、工具内にピストンリングを装着したピストンを挿入
すること自体もやさしいことではない。
