【特許請求の範囲】[Claims] 【請求項1】 トナー像を有する像担持体と、前記トナ
ー像を転写せしめる転写材を保持し、前記像担持体の転
写位置に前記転写材を搬送案内するための転写材担持体
と、前記転写材担持体と接触するクリーニングウェッブ
とクリーニングウェッブの送り手段とを有する清掃手段
を設けた画像形成装置において、前記転写材担持体上の
付着物量を予測あるいは検知し、前記付着物量に応じて
前記クリーニングウェッブの送り量を変化させる手段と
を有することを特徴とする画像形成装置。
