Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate deposited impurities easily in simple structure and prevent the performance degradation by installing a water supply filter made of the same material as a humidification element into a water tank and supplying filtered water to the humidification element. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of plate-like humidification elements 5 made of a porous material having water absorbing properties are laid out in an air flow passage where its end section 3a is placed into contact with humidification water 5 in a water supply tank 4. A water supply filter 2 made of the same raw material having water absorbing properties as the humidification elements 3 and water level gauges 11a and 11b are laid out in the water supply tank 4. When humidification is necessary, a water supply solenoid valve 9 is opened so as to supply water into a water receiving tank 2. When the water level reaches a specified water level 8a, the water level gauge 11a detects and the water supply solenoid valve 9 is closed. Then, the supply water passes through the water supply filter 2 which eliminates the impurities contained in the supply water and enters the water supply tank 4 where the water is absorbed by means of the humidification elements 3.

The air 7 blown into the humidifier is heated (heating operation) by an air conditioner and has a low relative humidity. Humidification water 5 is stored in the water supply tank 4, and one end portion 3a of the flat plate 3 is in contact with the humidification water 5 so that the flat plate 3 absorbs the water. When the heated air 7 comes into contact with the flat plate 3 that has absorbed the water, the water is naturally evaporated from the flat plate 3 to humidify the air, while the water that cannot be completely evaporated is dropped from the other end 3b of the flat plate. It flows down to the drain pan 6 and is discharged.

Since the element absorbs the feed water by utilizing the capillary phenomenon, its pore diameter is small, and if the impurities contained in the feed water are large, the element closes the pores and the feed water cannot be sucked up. Further, if it is contained in a large amount even if small, it may accumulate as a residue in the element, hinder sufficient water supply to the element, and lead to a decrease in the amount of humidification.

By using the same material as the humidification element for the water supply filter, the pore size is the same, so impurities passing through the water supply filter rarely accumulate in the humidification element, and impurities accumulated in the humidification element. Remains in the feedwater filter and does not affect the humidification element.

On the other hand, a large amount of impurities may accumulate in the water supply filter, which may make it difficult to supply water to the humidifying element. Therefore, regular maintenance is required, but compared with the maintenance of all the humidifying elements. It has the advantage that it can be done easily.

Further, in the second embodiment, the water supply filter 2 is formed in a flat plate shape, but as shown in FIG. 5, the same state can be obtained even if it is folded in a W shape. In this case, in particular, it should be folded in a W shape. As a result, the area of the water supply filter is increased, and the life of the water supply filter 2 itself can be lengthened.
