末端に蛇口4が設けられている。水道管3の主管1から
の分岐部分、水道メータ2の下流側に、閉止弁5が設け
られており、該閉止弁5に隣接してその下流側にエアコ
ンプレッサ取付口6が設けられている。そして該取付口
6にエアコンプレッサ7が接続されている。取付口6に
は、エアコンプレッサ7の吐出空気が水道管3内に流入
するのは許すが、水道管3内の水がエアコンプレッサ7
に流入するのは阻止する逆止弁8が設けられている。凍
結防止のために水道管3内の水を抜くには、閉止弁5を
閉じるとともに各蛇口4を開き、この状態でエアコンプ
レッサ7を作動させればよい。するとエアコンプレッサ
7から吐出される圧縮空気が逆止弁8を開いて水道管3
内に進入し、水道管3内の水を蛇口4側へ押しやって該
蛇口4から管外へ排出する。このようにして、確実に水
道管3から水を抜いて、水道管3が内部の水の凍結によ
り閉塞しもしくは破裂するのを未然に防ぐことができ
る。しかも極めて短時間で水抜きを行うことができる。
閉止弁5より上流側の水は大量で熱容量の大きい主管1
内の水に接しているので、この水からの伝熱により凍結
