Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a safe cosmetic exhibiting mild actions to skins and absorbing UV rays for preventing sunburn by compounding a combination of specific choresteric liquid crystals. CONSTITUTION:A cosmetic contains liquid crystals comprising cholesteryl 12- hydroxystearate of >=40wt.% and cholesteryl nonanoate. The substances can absorb UV rays only in a short wavelength region of <=250nm when dissolved in a solvent but absorbs the UV rays in a region including 400nm as a central wavelength when converted into a liquid crystal state, thereby having a sunburn- preventing activity.

を見い出したことにあり、これまでの紫外線吸収剤にな
い、新しい紫外線防止機能を提供することで、極めて大
きな意義がある。
