料を塗布する場合、塗布装置としてバーコータ
ー、ブレードコーター、エアーナイフコーター等
が使用されるが、基紙の坪量が増すとバーコータ
ーによる場合はバーとの、ブレードコーターによ
る場合はブレードとの接触プロフアイルが均一で
なくなり、均一な塗布面が得難いという問題があ
る。また巻取紙の塗布を終え、次の巻取紙に塗布
するときは、連続運転のままで紙繋ぎが行われ
る。塗布装置上での紙繋ぎは、普通塗布装置にお
けるアンリールスタンドの回転式巻取支持部の一
方(他方の支持部には旧巻取紙がセツトされてい
る)の支持部に次に塗布すべき新巻取紙をセツト
し、その始端部に糊付けして待機させておき、旧
巻取紙の塗布を終えた段階で支持部を回転させて
旧巻取紙の末端付近を新巻取紙と接合させ、同時
に旧巻取紙を切断するという方法によつて行われ
る。
