Abstract

PURPOSE:To permit securing of the volume of a cold air passage immediately below a cooler sufficiently and eliminate the direct dripping of water produced by defrosting onto a defrosting heater by receiving the defrosting heater in a recessed part formed on the inner wall surface of the deep side of an inner casing under a condition that the heater is thrown thereinto. CONSTITUTION:A defrosting heater 4 made of a glass tube is received in a recessed part 9a, formed in the inner wall surface of the deep side of an inner casing 9 together with a supporting device 5b formed integrally at the rear part of the opening rim of a tray 5a for receiving water, produced by defrosting, from a cooler 3 under a condition that it is thrown thereinto. Under the receiving condition, the fore end of the defrosting heater 4 is at the rear side than the rear surface of the cooler 3 at all times considering so that dripping water from the cooler 3 will never hit the defrosting heater 4. Water, produced by defrosting frost, adhered to the cooler 3, by heating effected by the defrosting heater 4, drops directly into the tray 5a and will never drop onto the defrosting heater 4. On the other hand, anything which bothers the circulation of cold air is eliminated in a cold air passage A immediately below the cooler 3. A penthouse, covering at least the upper part of the defrosting heater 4, can be provided at the top rim of the recessed part 9a. The defrosting heater is not limited to the glass tube heater.

This series of cycles cools the food in the refrigerator, but
Moisture absorbed from the food adheres to the cooler (3) as frost, and as this frost grows, the heat exchange efficiency decreases. In order to stop this decrease in heat exchange efficiency, the defrost heater (
4) to heat the cooler (3) and drip the adhering frost into the tray (5a) directly below as defrosting water. In addition, in order to prevent the dripping water from falling directly onto the heated defrost heater (4), the above-mentioned heater roof (5c) is provided, which roughly protects nearby parts from the heat of the defrost heater (4). The above aluminum sheet (7) and aluminum tape (10
) is used for pasting.
