Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure a continuous supply of hot water by a method wherein a first hot water storage tank for receiving water and a second hot water storage tank for feeding are provided, both the tanks are connected by a connecting pipe, each of such tanks has an excessive temperature rise preventing device, a temperature detector and a midnight-operated heater and the first hot water storage tank is provided with a daytime-operated heater for follow-up water heating. CONSTITUTION:The operating temperature of a temperature detector 30 is the same as that of a temperature detector 27 on a midnight-operated heater 26 provided on a first hot water storage tank 23 and, at a point at which the water is boiled by the heater 26, these two temperature detectors 30 and 27 are in an open condition and there are cases where the heater is not energized even when an indication switch 45 stays 'on' during a period of time other than midnight power supply hour. However, when a hot water faucet 39 is opened to use the hot water with the above-mentioned condition retained, a portion of supply water equivalent to the amount of the hot water used is allowed to flow into the first hot water storage tank 23 from below and, at a point at which the temperature detector 30 reaches a closed condition, the energizing of a daytime-operated heater 29 is started for follow-up water heating and continued until the water is boiled in the first hot water storage tank 23 when the temperature detector 30 is opened.

Problems to be Solved by the Invention In such conventional electric water heaters, there is a limit to the amount of hot water that can be used, and there is a problem in that the hot water sometimes runs out. If a large hot water storage capacity is established to deal with this hot water shortage, the amount of hot water used will fluctuate depending on the season, with the amount of hot water used being small in the summer due to high water temperature, and the amount being the largest in the winter. Therefore, the surplus rate increased in the summer, resulting in unnecessary boiling, which was an economic problem.

The daytime heater 29 for additional heating can be energized only outside the late-night power supply hours, and has a control configuration in which it is turned on when the temperature detector 30 is in the closed state. The operating temperature of the temperature detector 30 is the same as that of the temperature detector 27 of the late-night heating tank 26 installed in the first hot water storage tank 23,
When boiling is completed by the late-night heater 26, both temperature detectors 30 and 27 are open, and even if the instruction switch 45 is in the rONJ position outside of the late-night power supply hours, energization may not start. However, if hot water is used by opening the hot water tap 39 while maintaining this state, the amount of water used will be reduced to the point at which water flows from the lower part of the first hot water storage tank 23 and the temperature sensor 30 reaches the closed state. From then on, power is started to be supplied to the daytime heater 29 for additional cooking, and the operation starts to boil the inside of the first hot water storage tank 23 until the temperature detector 30 is in the open state.
