Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject film capable of preventing crease due to inclusion of air and suitable for a metal plate, etc., by making through holes through which gasses pass a film, having an adhesive layer formed on one side of a thermoplastic resin base film layer. CONSTITUTION:An objective film produced by making through holes generally having <=50 mm diameter preferably at a space of <= about 500 mm, where gasses pass through a film which has an adhesive layer mainly composed of a polymer such as natural rubber, a synthetic rubber, a thermoplastic elastomer, an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer or an acrylic resin formed on one side of a base film composed of a thermoplastic resin such as PE, PP or PVC. In addition, the through holes are made recommendably by using a perforator such as a puncher.

This surface protection film usually has a base layer made of thermoplastic resin such as polyethylene, polypropylene, or polyvinyl chloride, and one side of the base layer is made of natural rubber, synthetic rubber, thermoplastic elastomer, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, or acrylic resin. It has a structure provided with an adhesive layer containing various polymers such as the following as a main component.

By the way, when manufacturing a steel plate, a long steel plate with a surface protection film attached is first wound into a coil shape, and then in the next step, it is unwound and cut into plates of a predetermined size.

In other words, the manufactured long steel plate is wound into a coil after undergoing processing steps such as polishing, painting, and laminating.
Before that, a surface protection film is applied. However, when a long steel plate to which a surface protection film is attached is wound into a coil, a gap may be created between the film and the surface of the steel plate, causing the film to float.

In this leveler process, the unwound steel plate is usually passed between a pair or multiple pairs of pinch rolls and pinch pressure is applied to make it into a straight flat plate. At this time, as mentioned above, if there is a gap between the surface protection film and the steel plate and the film is floating, the pinch roll part of the leveler will cause the air trapped between the film and the steel plate to have a place to escape. This causes wrinkles in the film on the steel plate, which ends up being crushed by the leveler's pinch rolls. Then, a wrinkled film is attached to the steel plate that is cut into plate shapes.

Steel plates to which such wrinkled films are attached not only impair their aesthetic appearance and reduce their commercial value, but also cause the wrinkles in the film to fold when the painted surface is relatively soft, such as painted steel plates. The overlap may remain as an impression on the painted surface.

As a result of intensive research to overcome the problems of the prior art, the inventors of the present invention have found that a surface protection film can be attached to a steel plate by providing through holes large enough to allow gas such as air to pass through the surface protection film. The inventors discovered that even after coiling, unwinding, and leveling, there is no air entrapment or wrinkles, and based on this knowledge, the present invention was completed.

The surface protection film targeted by the present invention is not particularly limited as long as it is a surface protection film in which an adhesive layer is formed on one side of a base layer made of a thermoplastic resin.

The through-hole has a shape that penetrates both the base material layer 1 and the adhesive layer 2, as shown in FIG. The size and shape of the through hole 3 may be any size as long as it allows gas to pass therethrough. However, if the hole is too large, the surface protection function will be impaired, so if the through hole is circular in shape, the upper limit is usually about 50 mm in diameter.

In addition, the through holes do not necessarily have to be arranged regularly on the film surface, but the distance between adjacent holes is 1 m.
It is desirable to set it to m or more. The distance between holes is 1mm
If the tension is less than
If force is applied to the film, that part acts like a perforation, causing the film to tear or cut, which is not desirable. The upper limit of the distance between the holes is not particularly limited, but if the distance is too large, air will not be able to escape sufficiently from a portion of the leveler, so it is usually preferably up to about 500 mm.

Since the through-holes for gas permeation are provided in this way, the surface protection film of the present invention can be applied to a long steel plate and then
Even if there is a gap between the film and the steel plate due to coil winding, air escapes through the holes, so air will not accumulate in a part of the leveler, and as a result, no wrinkles will occur.

[Examples 1 to 3, Comparative Example 1] A surface protection film in which through-holes having the sizes and hole spacing shown in Table 1 were provided on a steel plate with a diameter of 100,100 mm, a length of 1,500 mm, and a thickness of 0.2 mm (Tanezu Chemical Industry Co., Ltd.). After attaching a protective tape (manufactured by Manufacturer Co., Ltd., #624D107), the film was artificially lifted by bending it to R=500 mm with the attached side facing inside. The sample was passed through a leveler using three pairs of pinch rolls (pinch pressure 5 kg/cIT12) to straighten it, and then the presence or absence of wrinkles in the film was observed.

For comparison, a conventional surface protection film without holes was subjected to the same treatment and the presence or absence of wrinkles in the film was observed.

As is clear from Table 1, by providing through holes in the surface protection film (Examples 1 to 3), the air trapped between the film and the steel plate when passing through the leveler escapes through the holes, eliminating wrinkles. It turns out that this does not occur.

On the other hand, when using a conventional surface protection film that does not have through-holes (Comparative Example 1), wrinkles were observed after passing it through the leveler, and the film remained intact even after the leveler process. Air remained between the steel plate and the steel plate.

(Hereinafter referred to as the margin) Thus, according to the present invention, when applied as a surface protection film for a steel plate, the surface protection film prevents air entrapment and wrinkles even after the coil winding and leveling processes.
