4図を参照して簡単に説明すると、磁気ヘツド1
は0を中心とする回転体2の端部にヘツドベース
3と一体の状態で取り付けられ回転体2によつて
所定速度て回転する。一方、ラツピングテープ4
は供給リール(図示せず)から第1ガイドピン5
を通してガイドシリンダ6に巻き付き、ここで磁
気ヘツド1に当接して磁気ヘツドを研摩し、次の
第2ガイドピン7を通して巻取りリール(図示せ
ず)へ供給する。前記ガイドシリンダ6の径は研
摩された磁気ヘツドを実装するシリンダと同径に
作られたものである。そしてラツピングテープ4
は粒度が#10000〜#15000程度でテープ厚が15μ
m〜20μmのものが用いられる。このような条件
でラツピングした磁気ヘツドは実際のVTRに取
り付けた場合と同等のテープ当たりを有する磁気
ヘツドの厚み方向の曲率をもつたテープ摺動面を
形成することができる。

する長さと全く等しいので、VTRのシリンダに
取り付けられたときのバラツキをカバーすること
ができない。

く、完全な円筒体であつてもよい。ただし、半管
状の筒体の形に形成した場合には回転体2に対す
る磁気ヘツド1の取り付けや取り外しが簡易にな
るという利点がある。第1図から分るように本発
明では実際のVTRのシリンダ径Rよりも、ラツ
ピング装置のガイドシリンダの径R′を小さくし
ている。尚、そのR′はRの約80%程度が適当で
ある。このようなガイドシリンダ6′に対し磁気
ヘツド1の突出量は実際のシリンダ8に取り付け
た場合の突出量と同程度になるように設定する。
この突出量は50μmである。この状態で第4図の
如くラツピングテープ4を走行させて研摩する
と、その研摩を受ける範囲は第2図および第3図
のl2となり、研摩部分が広くなる。これはラツピ
ングテープ4が第1図に示すように磁気ヘツドの
幅方向の隅部1aに近いところまで十分に当接し
て磁気ヘツドを研摩するからである。尚、前記ラ
ツピングテープ4は例えば粒度が#10000で、テ
ープ厚が20μmである。このテープ厚はVTRで使
用する磁気テープ9と同等である。第2図におい
て、l1は磁気ヘツド1がVTRのテープ案内用ド
ラムシリンダ8に実装されたときに磁気テープ9
が接する範囲を示すが、この範囲は研摩された範
囲によも小さい。上述した条件で研摩し、VTR
に実装した場合について比較すれば m1=490μm〜550μm、m2=600μm〜760μmで
ある。
