Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent occurrence of irregular reflection on a pattern face, to prevent incidence of light into a linear sensor causing external disturbance and to attain excellent read by providing a cover passing a major light through a lens but interrupting an undesired light invaded into a sensor module to a front face of the sensor module. CONSTITUTION:A major light 4 passing through a lens 3 from a original face passes through an aperture 11a of a cover 11 and the image is formed on a linear sensor 1, in which the light is read. On the other hand, an undesired light 8 from the lens comes, the undesired light 8 is interrupted by the cover 11 and is not invaded into a sensor module 2. Thus, the occurrence of irregular reflection in the sensor module 2 is prevented and the incidence of light causing external disturbance is avoided to the linear sensor and the deterioration in the picture quality such as defective density is minimized.

2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, this type of apparatus includes a sensor module 2 equipped with a one-dimensional sensor l, and an image of a document surface (not shown) on the one-dimensional sensor l. lens 3
The sensor module 2 is arranged on the substrate 5 so that the one-dimensional sensor 1 is located at the focal point of the principal light 4 of the lens 3. Further, the one-dimensional sensor 1 is normally arranged at the center of the pattern surface 6, and a protective glass 7 is provided on the front surface of the sensor module 2.

Problems to be Solved by the Invention However, in such a configuration, when the document surface is imaged onto the one-dimensional sensor l by the lens 3 and the document is read, the principal light 4 from the lens 3 is applied to the one-dimensional sensor l. As well,
There was a problem in that disturbance light was incident, causing poor density and other image quality deterioration.

The above problem arises for the following reasons. That is, since not only the principal light 4 but also unnecessary light 8 is projected from the lens 3, the unnecessary light 8 enters into the sensor module 2, and diffusely reflected light 9 by the pattern surface 6 is generated. A part of this diffusely reflected light 9 is reflected by the glass 7, and a part of it enters the one-dimensional sensor 1, resulting in a reduction in image quality.

lI! Means for Solving the Problem In order to solve the above-mentioned problem, the present invention has a structure in which a cover is provided on the front surface of the sensor module to allow the main light from the lens to pass through but to cut out unnecessary light that enters the sensor module. It is equipped with the following.

Effect of the Invention With the above-described configuration, the cover on the front surface of the sensor module cuts unnecessary light entering the sensor module. Therefore, occurrence of diffused reflection by the pattern surface is prevented, and disturbance light is prevented from entering the one-dimensional sensor, allowing good reading.

Embodiment FIG. 1 is a schematic sectional view of essential parts of an image reading apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention, and the same parts as those in the embodiment of FIG. 2 are designated by the same reference numerals. In FIG. 1, 1 is a one-dimensional sensor, 2 is a sensor module equipped with the one-dimensional sensor 1, 3 is a lens for forming an image of the document surface (not shown) on the one-dimensional sensor l, and 4 is its Main light from the lens,
5 is the substrate on which the sensor module 2 is attached, 6 is the pattern surface on which the one-dimensional sensor l is arranged, and 7 is the sensor module 2
A protective glass 8 is attached to the front of the lens 3, and the unnecessary light is emitted from the lens 3. A cover 11 is provided to cover the front surface of the sensor module 2. The cover 11 has an opening 11a at a position through which the main light 4 from the lens 3 passes, and allows the main light 4 to enter the sensor module 2, but cuts off other unnecessary light 8. According to the image reading device configured as described above, the main light 4 from the document surface (not shown) passes through the lens 3 and passes through the cover 1.
1 is imaged onto the one-dimensional sensor l through the aperture 11a of
It is read by a one-dimensional sensor l. On the other hand, lens 3
Although unnecessary light 8 is also emitted from the sensor module 2, the unnecessary light 8 is cut by the cover 11 and does not enter the sensor module 2. This suppresses the occurrence of diffusely reflected light within the sensor module 2, prevents disturbance light from entering the one-dimensional sensor 1, and minimizes image quality deterioration such as poor density.

Note that in the above embodiment, the cover 11 is connected to the sensor module 2.
Although the cover 11 is provided separately from the front glass 7 and attached to the substrate 5, the structure of the cover 11 is not limited to this and can be changed as appropriate. For example, a thin plate material with an opening through which the main light 4 passes may be attached to the glass 7 to serve as a cover, or a light-shielding paint may be applied to the glass 7 except for the portion through which the main light 4 passes. It can also be used as a cover.

Effects of the Invention As is clear from the above explanation, the present invention prevents unnecessary light from entering the sensor module by arranging a cover that cuts unnecessary light on the front surface of a sensor module equipped with a one-dimensional sensor. However, problems such as poor density due to diffused reflection within the sensor module may occur. j It has the effect of being able to reduce quality deterioration.
