It is mainly made of resin, reinforcing materials such as glass fiber, and fillers such as calcium carbonate, and is used for various purposes by taking advantage of its properties, but it is relatively heavy and there is a strong demand for weight reduction. As a countermeasure, hollow glass balloons and the like were added, but this had the disadvantage of reducing the strength of the molded product.

As described in the prior art section, the weight of molded articles obtained from conventional sheet-like unsaturated polyester resin molding materials increases. The present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned problems in the prior art, and its object is to provide an unsaturated polyester resin molding material from which lightweight molded products without deterioration in strength can be obtained.

The present invention is a sheet-shaped unsaturated polyester resin molding material that is made by impregnating a base material with saturated polyester nonwoven fabric on the upper and lower surfaces of a glass chop layer and an unsaturated polyester resin, and thus maintains high strength. The present invention will be described in detail below, with the above-described light-weight molded product being able to be obtained.

The glass chop layer used in the present invention is made of alkali-free glass, and the chop length, filament diameter, number of convergence, etc. are not particularly limited, and those commonly used can be used as they are. It also corresponds to the required thickness of the molded product and is not limited. The saturated polyester nonwoven fabric includes general nonwoven fabrics such as nonwoven fabrics, mats, and papers made of saturated polyester resin fibers, and there are no particular limitations on the filament diameter, denier, thickness, etc. of the fibers. The unsaturated polyester resin includes not only the unsaturated polyester resin alone but also its modified products. glass chop layer,
The weight distribution of the saturated polyester nonwoven fabric and unsaturated polyester resin is 10 to 40% by weight for the glass chop layer (hereinafter simply referred to as %), 2 to 15% for the saturated polyester nonwoven fabric,
Preferably, the unsaturated polyester resin accounts for 50 to 80%. That is, if the glass chop layer is less than 10%, it is difficult to obtain high strength, and if it exceeds 40%, the weight tends to be high. This is because if the content of the saturated polyester nonwoven fabric is less than 2%, it is difficult to make it lightweight, and if it exceeds 15%, it is difficult to make it high strength. Inorganic powder fillers such as calcium carbonate, clay, silica, talc, and aluminum hydroxide can be added to the unsaturated polyester resin as needed. As for the crosslinking agent, mold release agent, coloring agent, surfactant, etc., commonly used ones can be used as they are.

In this way, the above-mentioned base material is impregnated with an unsaturated polyester resin to obtain a sheet-like unsaturated polyester resin molding material, but it is preferable to use a resin that has been defoamed under reduced pressure,
Impregnation under reduced pressure is often desirable to eliminate air bubbles in the molding material.

Example: Glass chops were spread out to account for 25% of the total amount, and one sheet of saturated polyester nonwoven fabric was placed on each of the top and bottom surfaces, each accounting for 4% of the total amount. A sheet-like unsaturated polyester resin molding material was obtained by impregnating it with an unsaturated polyester resin.
