インクシートと、このインクシートが巻き回され
たインクシート供給ロールと、このインクシート

向の所定角度に渡つて巻き回され該インクシート
を搬送するためのキヤプスタンと、このキヤプス
タンを回転駆動する第1の駆動手段と、さらに前
記インクシートが周方向の所定角度に渡つて巻き
回されるプラテンローラと、このプラテンローラ
と前記インクシートとの間に挿入され且つインク
シートの張力によりプラテンローラに圧接される
受像シートと、前記プラテンローラを回転駆動し
て受像シートのみを搬送する第2の駆動手段と、
これら第1の駆動手段及び第2の駆動手段の駆動
を制御する制御手段と、この受像シート及び前記
インクシートをプラテンローラとの間に挟むとと
もに画像情報に応じた熱パターンを発生してイン
クシートのインクを選択的に転写するサーマルヘ
ツドとを備えた熱転写式記録装置であつて、 前記プラテンローラより受像シートの搬送方向
に沿つた下流側に受像シートの先端を検知する先
端検知手段を設け、前記制御手段は、記録開始前
に先端検知手段が受像シートの先端を検知したと
きはプラテンローラを所定の角度逆転することに
より該受像シートの先端が記録開始位置に移動す
るよう前記第2の駆動手段の駆動を制御し、画像
記録時には前記キヤプスタンがプラテンローラの
周速より小さい周速で回転するよう第1及び第2
の駆動手段の駆動を制御するよう構成したことを
