In this case, when an analog touch panel is used, its characteristics may change greatly depending on the operating environment such as temperature and humidity. At this time, the detection of the pressed position may be difficult. This had the disadvantage that it would go awry, making accurate data entry impossible.

1 is a CPU (Central Processing Unit) that controls the entire system; 2 is an analog touch panel, which is placed, for example, directly above the display 4; 3 is an A/D (analog-digital) converter, which converts the analog output of the touch panel 2 into a digital value. 5 is a power supply control circuit that monitors and controls the power supply of the system. 6 is a battery that is the power source of the system. A main memory 7 stores application programs including parameters, user data, etc., and is made up of, for example, RAM (random access memory). 8 is a system ROM (read only memory) in which control programs and fixed parameters are stored, and 9 is a printer that prints out the processing results of the CPU. IO is a parameter change switch for inputting an instruction to change a parameter.

The CPU reads out the digital output value of the A/D converter 3 at regular intervals to check whether it is pressed or not. If it determines that it has been pressed, it sets it to X direction detection in step SIO and performs A/D conversion. Read the output value from device 3. In step Sll, it is checked whether there is an instruction to change the position conversion parameter in the X direction by the switch 10. If the change is not instructed, the standard parameter value on the system ROMg is used in step S12, and if the change is instructed, the standard parameter value on the system ROMg is used. In step 513, the parameter values on the application program are used, and in step S14, the output value of the A/D converter 3 is converted into X position data.

The effect of being able to read correctly can be obtained. Furthermore, when the need arises to replace a touch panel or when a touch panel with the same characteristics as the one used at the time of manufacture is not available, the present invention can be used to replace a part of the application program without changing the system ROM. This has the advantage that it can be handled simply by changing the . Furthermore, the present invention has the advantage that even if there are large manufacturing variations when attaching a touch panel and a display device, it can be easily accommodated.
