Abstract

PURPOSE:To make a voice heard with the telephone easy to hear by detecting a audible ringing signal with a microphone so as to make a controlling microcomputer decrease or mute a sound volume of an acoustic device based upon the detected signal. CONSTITUTION:When an audible ringing signal 2 is transmitted from a telephone set 1 while an audio equipment (hereinafter referred to as an equipment) is operated, a microphone 3 detects the sound 2 to be transferred to a controlling microcomputer 12. The microcomputer 12 examines this signal by carring out a comparison if the signal includes a component of the same quality with that of the data for the telephone set 1 itself which was read out from a memory 6. If it is decided that there exists a component of the same quality, the microcomputer 12 examines an voice sound signal of the equipment inputted from a second A/D converter 11, by carring out a comparison, if the signal includes a component of the same quality with that of a memory data. If it is decided that the equipment does not include, so to speak, a pseudo signal which has the same quality as that of the sound 2, the microcomputer decides that there exists no component of the same quality. Thus, the fact that the sound 2 is actually radiated is confirmed and the microcomputer 12 outputs a control signal for decreasing or muting a sound to an electronic variable resister.

[Operation] The call tone of the installed telephone itself is stored in advance in the memory using the microphone of this device. Thereafter, while comparing with the memory data, the control microcomputer controls the electronic volume so as to automatically reduce or mute the sound when the call sound of the telephone is detected. When the audio signal of a television or the like contains a signal component of the same quality as the memory data, the above function is stopped.

Next, the operation of the present invention will be explained with reference to FIG. 2 as well. FIG. 2 is a flowchart for explaining the operation of the control microcomputer 12. ST numbers in the following description indicate each step in FIG. When a call sound is emitted from the telephone 1 while the television receiver or audio equipment (hereinafter referred to as the equipment) is in operation, the microphone 3 detects the call sound, and the first BPF 4 and the first A/D conversion circuit 5, the signal is transmitted to the control microcomputer 12. This transmitted signal includes, in addition to the call tone, signals of various frequency components within the first BPF band, such as voices emitted from the device itself. The control microcomputer 12 compares this signal to see if there is a component of the same quality as the data of the telephone 1 itself read from the memory section 6 (ST1), and determines that there is a component of the same quality (ST1-YES). Next, the control microcomputer 12 compares whether or not there is a component of the same quality as the memory data in the audio signal of the device inputted from the second A/D conversion circuit 11 (ST2). Here, in the current explanation, if it is assumed that there is no so-called pseudo signal of the same quality as the call sound in the audio signal from the device (the case where there is a pseudo signal will be described later), the control microcomputer 12 determines that there is no homogeneous component (ST2
-NO). As a result, it is confirmed that the call sound is truly being emitted, and a control signal is output from the control microcomputer 12 to the electronic volume 8 to reduce or mute the sound (13
). Whether to reduce the sound (including the attenuation ratio) or muffle the sound is a matter of choice regarding the specifications of the device, and either can be handled by software processing of the control microcomputer.

[0008] There is a high possibility that a signal having the same quality as a call tone (the above-mentioned pseudo signal) may be included in the audio signal of the device. In such a case, the microphone 3 detects the pseudo signal in the same manner as described above and transmits a signal having the same quality as the real call sound to the control microcomputer 12. However, in this case, the second A/D
A signal of the same quality is also input from the conversion circuit 11 to the control microcomputer 12. Therefore, there is a homogeneous component in ST1 (same YES)
) Even if it is determined that there is a homogeneous component in ST2 (the same Y
ES), it is finally determined that the signal is in the audio signal from the device, and no control signal is output. 1st
Naturally, when there is no homogeneous component in the signal from the A/D conversion circuit 5, no control signal is output (ST1-NO). Note that if the true call tone and the pseudo signal are present at the same time, no control signal is output (ST2-YES route). Such a case is extremely rare, and this device does not require that much. By making the microphone extendable with an extension cord, the microphone can be placed near the telephone even if the telephone and the device are a little far apart, so that the operation of the device becomes reliable.

As explained above, according to the present invention, when a call sound is emitted from a telephone while a television receiver or audio equipment is in operation, the call sound is detected by a microphone, and the control microcontroller uses the detection signal to detect a call sound from a telephone. Since the device automatically reduces or mutes the volume of the device, it solves the problem that it is difficult to hear the voice on the phone due to the sound coming from the device, and contributes to improving the functionality of the device.
