Abstract

PURPOSE:To prolong the life and reduce the power consumption by informing a control part of the fact that an infrared sensor does not detect an operator any more in such a case and performing control by the control part so that the brightness of a display part is decreased. CONSTITUTION:The infrared sensor 5 detects the operator 1 being present in front of an operation part 2, but when the sensor does not detect the operator any more, the infrared sensor 5 sends a signal 13 indicating that there is not the operator 1 to the control part 3. The control part 3 one confirming that sends data for the decrease in brightness with a display control signal 12. The display part 4 decreases the brightness of a display on receiving the data. When the infrared sensor 5 detects the operator 1 again, that is reported to the control part 3 by the signal 13, which sends data for an increase in the brightness with the display control signal 12. The display part 4 receives the data for the increase in the brightness from the control part 3 and increases the brightness of the display.

On the other hand, the infrared sensor 5 detects that the operator 1 is in front of the operating section 2. When the operator 1 is no longer detected by the infrared sensor 5, a signal 13 indicating that the operator 1 is not present is transmitted from the infrared sensor 5 to the control unit 3. When the control unit 3 confirms by the signal 13 that the operator 1 is gone, it transmits data indicating that the brightness should be lowered by the display control signal 12. The display section 4 is
When data indicating that the brightness is to be lowered is received from the control unit 3, the display brightness is lowered. When the infrared sensor 5 detects the operator 1 again, the infrared sensor 5 informs the control section 3 that the operator 1 is present by the signal 13, and the control section 3 detects the operator 1 on the display section 4.
In response, the display control signal 12 transmits data indicating that the brightness should be increased. The display unit 4 increases the brightness of the display by receiving data from the control unit 3 indicating that the brightness should be increased.
