Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the iron club for golf which improves the flying distance of a hit ball and the direction of flying and can decrease slicing and hooking. CONSTITUTION:The head face of the iron club is subjected to a surface roughening treatment by sand blasting, etc., by which the adhesiveness of the coated film is improved. Fluororesin enamel is applied on the head face subjected to this surface roughening treatment and is dried. This coating is baked at the temp. higher than the m. p. of the fluororesin, by which the film having excellent heat resistance and low-frictional resistance is formed.

2. Description of the Related Art Some conventional golf iron clubs have their head faces coated with metal such as copper plating, but none are coated with resin. As mentioned above, metal coatings have certain effects in terms of aesthetics, etc., but they do not significantly improve performance such as heat resistance or frictional resistance, so for example, they cannot be expected to increase the flight distance of the ball. Moreover, it does not make any particular contribution to improving the direction of fly balls such as slices and hooks.

[Function] The fluororesin coating, which did not adhere to the smooth metal surface and was easily peeled off, can improve its adhesion with the coating by roughening the smooth head face by sandblasting or the like. Furthermore, by firing the fluororesin film at a temperature higher than the melting point of the fluororesin, the resin particles fuse together to form a uniform, strong coating.

[Embodiment] An embodiment of the present invention will be described below. Particle size 0
.. The main raw material is an aqueous dispersion made by emulsion polymerization of colloidal fluororesin of around 2 μm, and pigments and surfactants are added to it to prepare fluororesin (polytetrafluoroethylene) enamel. On the other hand, the head face of an iron club is roughened by spraying an abrasive such as aluminum oxide crystal powder or silicon carbide powder using air pressure. The above-mentioned fluororesin enamel is applied onto the head face which has been roughened in this way, and then dried. Subsequently, the melting point of the fluororesin is 327°C or higher, preferably 380°C to 4°C.
By firing at a temperature in the range of 00°C, the resin particles fuse together to form a uniform and strong coating. The fluororesin coating thus formed has high heat resistance and a low coefficient of friction, which are the characteristics of fluororesin, and also has strong adhesive strength and will not peel off due to the roughening treatment of the metal surface.

[0007] When using an iron club with improved physical properties of the head face in this way, the flight distance of the ball is increased by more than 10 meters, and the direction of the ball is improved, making slices and hooks extremely rare. It was found that the amount decreased.

[0008] Furthermore, when preparing fluororesin enamel,
When a heat-resistant thermosetting resin such as polyimide is dispersed in advance in the dispersion, the thermosetting resin and fluororesin phase separate when the film is formed, and the fluororesin collects on the surface layer. A two-layer structure is formed, and the thermosetting resin is responsible for adhesion to metal. Therefore, by applying this type of modified enamel as an undercoat, and then applying another coat of fluororesin enamel and baking it, a composite film of thermosetting resin and fluororesin is created, resulting in a strong coating film with even better adhesion. is obtained. Further, the surface roughening treatment of the head face is not limited to the above-mentioned sandblasting method, but may also include, for example, electrolytic treatment or chemical etching method treated with aqueous hydrochloric acid solution,
Various methods such as thermal spraying, in which metal powder or ceramic powder is sprayed in a molten state, can be used.

Effects of the Invention As described above, the golf iron club of the present invention improves the heat resistance, which is a characteristic of fluororesin, by roughening the head face, applying fluororesin enamel, and firing it at high temperature. It exhibits low frictional resistance, increases the flight distance of the ball, improves the direction of the ball, and reduces slices and hooks, making it possible to achieve revolutionary performance improvements.
