Abstract

PURPOSE:To insulate a detection output circuit from a main circuit and to facilitate the size reduction and weight reduction by obtaining an input voltage from a line where a current to be detected flows and a capacitor inserted into the ground and driving an amplifying circuit and an electrooptic converting element. CONSTITUTION:A conductor 1 whose resistance value R is already known is provided on the line 2 of the main circuit where the current I to be measured flows. The amplifying circuit 4 detects and amplifies the value VD of the voltage drop across the conductor 1. The output of the circuit 4 is inputted to a voltage/ frequency converting circuit 5, which outputs a pulse signal of frequency proportional to the current value I. This pulse signal is converted by the electrooptic converting circuit 6 into a light pulse signal to transmit a light pulse signal (detection signal of current value I) to an external circuit through an optical cable connected to the connector of the circuit 6. Further, the capacitor C1 is added to the line 2 of the main circuit and a voltage VP is developed across it. A power circuit 12 inputs the voltage VP obtained by capacitor voltage division to drive the circuits 4, 5, and 6.

(Problem 1. to be solved by the invention) Current transformers have the characteristic of being able to detect current values by electromagnetic induction while being insulated from the main circuit (line) to be detected. Since it has a structure in which the measurement circuit line (secondary winding) is wound around the winding, it is difficult to make it smaller and lighter. In particular, when a current transformer is incorporated into a switchgear or the like as illustrated in FIG. 5, the equipment case must be enlarged. In Fig. 5, 21 is the main body case of the switchgear, 22 is the circuit breaker, and 2

(Embodiment) FIG. 1 shows the configuration of a first embodiment of the present invention. Reference numeral 2 denotes a line of the main circuit through which the current to be detected flows, and on the line 2 there is a conductor 1 having a known resistance value R. The amplifier circuit 4 detects and amplifies the voltage drop value VD-R1 of the conductor 1. The output of the amplifier circuit 4 is input to a voltage/frequency conversion circuit 5, which outputs a pulse signal having a frequency proportional to the current value I. This pulse signal is converted into an optical pulse signal by an electrical/optical conversion circuit 6, and the optical pulse signal (detection signal of current value I) is transmitted to an external circuit through an optical cable connected to a connector (not shown) of this circuit 6. Fig. 2 shows a second embodiment of the present invention, which differs from the embodiment shown in Fig. 1 in that series capacitors C1 and 02 of an insulator capacitor voltage divider 10 are connected between the main circuit line 2 and the ground. However, the divided voltage Vp of Vp=xVp102 is input to the power supply circuit 12. This configuration is suitable when the main circuit voltage V is relatively low.
