Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a photoelectric switch into a small sized case whose thermal capacitance is small by connecting a switching element and a display element in parallel and connecting a constant current and a signal processing circuit in series against the parallel circuit of both elements. CONSTITUTION:A display LED 1 is lighted and when a signal processing circuit 13 outputs a low level signal to the gate of a current mirror circuit 19 and the operation of the signal processing circuit 13 is maintained with a current flowing to the LED 1. When the signal processing circuit 13 outputs a high level signal to the gate of the current mirror circuit 19, both current mirror circuits 19,25 are turned on and the switching element 3 is closed. In this case, the current of the power supply circuit 27 flows to a constant current circuit 11 and the signal processing circuit 13 through the switching element 3 having a lower resistance characteristic than that of the LED 1. Thus, the operation of the signal processing circuit 13 is warranted while the LED 1 goes off.

(Prior Art) In order to display the operating status of various signal processing devices, a photoelectric switch having a display element that turns on and off depending on the operating status of the signal processing device has conventionally generally used a visible light emitting diode. A display light emitting diode constituted by (LED) etc. and a signal processing circuit are connected in parallel with each other, and a switching element connected in series with the display light emitting diode is switched in its operating state by the signal processing circuit. The display light emitting diodes are selectively energized and their lighting is controlled.

(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) Although the photoelectric switch having the above-described circuit configuration is fully satisfactory in controlling the lighting and extinguishing of display elements such as display light emitting diodes, there are In this case, the current applied to the display element for lighting the display element is used only for lighting the display element, and the energization for driving the signal processing circuit is the same as the energization for lighting the display element. is performed separately, which has the disadvantage of large current consumption. In particular, green GapLEDs, which have low luminous efficiency relative to the amount of current supplied, require a display current of 5 to 10 mA to light up, and this display current is low.
If it is not given to the ED, sufficient brightness cannot be obtained. Since this display current is approximately equivalent to the current consumption of a typical signal processing circuit, a large current loss occurs. This is especially true when the power supply circuit is battery powered.
This is a major cause of shortening the life of the battery power supply.
