Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide an apparatus for high-frequency heating whose use is free from impairment of a halogen lamp in service life and from danger of bodily burns, etc. CONSTITUTION:A reflecting box 9 attached to a heating chamber 2 with an insulating spacer 11 therebetween contains a halogen lamp 6 on the outer side of a punched metal plate 2a set in a wall of the heating chamber 2 and has a transparent glass plate 10 for closure over the punched metal plate 2a. This structure keeps the halogen lamp 6 from direct contact with the cooling air for cooling the high-frequency oscillator 3 so that temperatures over 250 deg.C, on which the halogen cycle is conditional, can be secured and, moreover, the spacer 11 mentioned above prevents transmission of heat from the glass plate 10 to the punched metal plate 2a and its heating to high temperatures.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Conventionally, incandescent lamps have been used in cooking devices such as high-frequency heating devices to illuminate the inside of the heating chamber, but there has been a problem in that the amount of light is low and it is difficult to see the inside of the heating chamber. Recently, halogen lamps have started to be used instead of incandescent lamps. The halogen lamp will be explained below.

[0003] Halogen lamps use quartz tubes as bulbs,
This lamp contains a tungsten filament and halogen gas, and has a larger amount of light and a longer life than an incandescent light bulb. Usually, incandescent light bulbs use a tungsten filament with a high melting point, but tungsten already begins to evaporate below its melting point, causing the filament to become thinner and eventually break. This is the natural lifespan of an incandescent light bulb. In order to prevent such evaporation of tungsten, halogen lamps are filled with halogen gas. As a result, tungsten evaporated from the filament reacts with the halogen gas to generate a halogen compound gas. If the temperature of the quartz bulb is kept above 250℃, the compound gas will maintain that state and when it is brought near the filament, the high temperature will decompose the tungsten into halogen gas, and the tungsten will adhere to the filament.
The freed halogen gas can repeat the following reaction again. This series of cycles is called a halogen cycle, and it greatly reduces the thinning of the filament, making it possible to have a longer life than incandescent light bulbs.
