2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, this type of paper feeding device has, for example, provided a paper feeding roller and a reverse roller which is supported by a torque limiter in an opposed manner, and as the paper feeding roller rotates, the paper feeding roller There is one sheet between the reverse roller
When only one sheet has been fed, the torque of the torque limiter is overcome by the frictional force between the sheets, and the reverse roller is rotated in the paper feeding direction, allowing one sheet to be fed out smoothly, and two or more sheets to be fed in. Sometimes, the torque of the torque limiter overcomes the frictional force between the sheets, causing the reverse roller to rotate in the opposite direction to the paper feeding direction and return the lower sheet.
Some machines prevent double feeding by continuing this operation until the topmost sheet is fed out.

Thereafter, when the rear end of the friction surface 1c separates from the surface of the lower sheet A', the uppermost sheet A
The front edge A1 also separates from the surface of the lower sheet A', and from around this time the contact pressure between the friction surface 1c and the uppermost sheet A rapidly decreases, and at the same time, the uppermost sheet A begins to return from its curved state to a straight line. Because of this force, the front end A1 tries to move in the paper feeding direction.

At this time, due to the rotation of the sorting roller 1, 2
In some cases, more than one sheet A overlaps and is transported, but in this case, as these sheets A are curved, the force exerted on each sheet A to return from the curved state to the straight state increases, and the lower side At a point in time before the front edge A1 of the uppermost sheet A is caught in the rear end 1d'' of the notch recess 1d, the force applied to the lower sheet becomes greater than the frictional force generated between this lower sheet and the uppermost sheet A. , the lower sheet moves away from the top sheet A and returns to the straight state, preventing double feeding.

[Effects of the Invention] Since the present invention has the above structure, it has the following advantages. By intermittently rotating the friction surface of the sorting roller in the opposite direction to the paper feeding direction, the portion of the uppermost sheet up to the position pressed by the pressing means is shifted in the counter-feeding direction and is moved away from the lower sheets. The leading edge of the curved uppermost sheet in the sheet feeding direction engages with the notch recess and is turned over onto the sorting roller, and then the sheet feeding roller pulls the uppermost sheet on the sorting roller. Since the uppermost sheet is fed out in the paper feeding direction by the rotation of the paper feeding roller, it is possible to reliably separate one sheet and then feed the paper, regardless of changes in the paper feeding torque.

Therefore, compared to the conventional method in which lower sheets are moved in the counter-feeding direction and separated one by one due to changes in paper feeding torque, even folded sheets can be fed one by one.
Costs can be reduced because there is no need to use a torque limiter.
