Claims

A valve plate is fixedly arranged in a non-rotatable manner in sliding contact with the end face of a cylinder block that rotates integrally with the drive shaft, and a recess is provided between the suction port and the discharge port on the sliding surface of the valve plate with the cylinder block. An axial piston pump is provided in which the intervals between adjacent recesses and suction ports and between adjacent recesses and discharge ports are each equal to or less than the diameter of a cylinder port, and the circumferential width of the recess is equal to or less than the distance between cylinder ports.
