[0003] In the mobile communication system, for each mobile radio device 2 that moves arbitrarily within a service area constituted by a plurality of fixed radio devices 1, it is determined which fixed radio device should call when receiving a call. Because of necessity, the exchange 3 (or the control station 4 of the fixed radio device, or the fixed radio device 1 itself) registers and manages the location of the mobile radio device. The position of each mobile radio device 2 is registered for each fixed radio device.

However, in the conventional location registration method, the mobile radio device 2 is placed in a transmitting state periodically to transmit a location registration request, so the power consumption of the mobile radio device 2 increases in inverse proportion to the length of the cycle. The problem is that it increases. Power consumption can be suppressed by lengthening the cycle of transmitting location registration requests, but in this case, updating of location registration is delayed and there is a high possibility that incoming calls will fail.

[Means for Solving the Problems] A location registration method for a mobile communication system according to the present invention includes registering the location of each fixed radio device in response to a location registration request of a mobile radio device, and moving to a transmission signal of the fixed radio device. The wireless device must include location information that allows it to recognize its location, and when the mobile wireless device registers its own location, it must store the location information of the registered fixed wireless device in its own memory. The mobile wireless device must register the location. When this happens, the mobile radio device starts its own timer, compares the location information stored in its memory with the received information, and determines whether it has received a transmission signal from the registered fixed radio device before the timer expires. If the location information request is received, the timer is initialized; if the location information is not received, the location information request is sent to the fixed radio device; upon receiving this location information request, the fixed radio device sends a response; Furthermore, when a response signal is received from a registered fixed radio device, the mobile radio device initializes a timer, and if the mobile radio device cannot receive a response signal, it transmits a location registration request.

[0010] Here, the location information included in the transmission signal from the fixed radio device is usually an ID (identification code) unique to the fixed radio device that is incorporated into the control signal, but if the mobile radio device Any code is acceptable as long as it can recognize its own position. Examples of signals containing codes that can be used to recognize these positions include the following signals. (a) Control signals used for call origination, call reception, and call termination processing (
b) Control signals used for location registration processing of other mobile radio devices (c) Response signals to the transmission of location information requests Also, each of these signals (a), (b), and (c) are signals addressed to the own device. Not only signals but also signals addressed to other aircraft are used.

[Operation] In the present invention, instead of the mobile radio transmitting a location registration request periodically, the request is sent when the mobile radio determines that the mobile radio has moved from its registered position, and the request is sent when it is determined that the mobile radio has not moved. If so, do not send a location registration request.

[0012] If the transmission signal from the registered fixed radio device can be received, it is determined that the device has not moved from the registered position, and if the transmission signal cannot be received, it is basically determined that the device has moved. However, whether or not the signal is transmitted from a registered fixed wireless device is determined by whether the location information included in the transmitted signal matches that stored in the memory at the time of location registration.

[0013] If reception is not possible, this includes not only cases where the user has actually moved from the registered position, but also cases where there is no need for the registered fixed wireless device to transmit even if the device has not moved. It is necessary to distinguish between the two. Therefore, a timer is used to wait for reception of position information, and if the position information cannot be received continuously for a certain period of time from the start of the timer to the time-out, a position information request is sent to urge the registered fixed wireless device to respond. If it still cannot be received, it is determined that the user has really moved, and a location registration request is sent.

[0014] If the timer is able to receive the signal before it times out, or if it is able to receive a transmission signal in response to the location information request after the timeout, the timer is initialized and restarted, and the system waits for the location information to be received again. The next judgment is made as to whether or not the device has moved from the registered position.

[0023] If a transmission signal is received from a registered fixed radio device, regardless of whether it is addressed to one's own device or another device, within the time period, it is determined that the device is not moving relative to the registered fixed radio device, and the Each time, the process returns to step S2 to initialize and restart the timer. That is, it waits for reception of the recognition code again for the time set by the timer. In step S4, if the transmission signal from the registered fixed wireless device cannot be received continuously for the time set by the timer, the time is over.
The process moves to the next step S5.

In step S5, the mobile radio transmits a location information request to the fixed radio. In response, the fixed radio transmits this response signal. In response to this response, if a signal having the recognition code stored in its own memory can be received, the process returns to step S2 and waits for reception of the recognition code (step S6). If it cannot be received, it is determined that the mobile radio has moved from the registered fixed radio, and the mobile radio transmits a location registration request. As a result, location registration processing is performed (step S

[0025] By the way, as mentioned above, as examples of transmission signals from fixed radio equipment that include codes that can be used for position recognition, there are the following signals (a) to (c).
Furthermore, for each of these signals (a), (b), and (c), not only signals addressed to the own device but also signals addressed to other devices are used. (a) Control signals used for call origination, call reception, and call termination processing (
b) A control signal used for the location registration process of other mobile radios; (c) a response signal to the transmission of a location information request;
In step S3 of FIG. 1, control signals (a), (b) or response signals (c) are sent from the fixed radio device to other mobile radio devices.
It is possible to determine whether the transmitted signal is from a registered fixed wireless device by receiving the received signal. Further, the response signal to step S6 and the control signal in step S7 can be received by other mobile wireless devices and used to initialize the timer. Therefore, when multiple mobile radios exist within the communication area of a fixed radio, any one of the mobile radios may perform communication processing (for example, a request to send information, etc.) with the fixed radio. )
If this is done, other mobile wireless devices can receive the processed signal and initialize their timers, thereby reducing the number of times location registration requests are transmitted. This makes it possible to reduce power consumption and reduce interference with call origination and call processing.

Furthermore, even if the mobile radio device 2 moves to the boundary 8 between a plurality of fixed radio devices 1 as shown in FIG. 2, the location will not be registered alternately among the plurality of fixed radio devices in a short period of time. . In FIG. 2, 9 is a call area. The reason is as follows. In other words, since a location registration request is sent only when the transmission signal from the registered fixed wireless device #1 cannot be received continuously for a certain period of time set by the timer, the location registration request for any fixed wireless device #1 is sent once. Then, until the transmission signal from fixed wireless device #1 becomes unreceivable, location registration is valid regardless of whether or not it is possible to receive the transmitted signal from other fixed wireless device #2. be.

According to the present invention, a mobile wireless device does not periodically transmit a location registration request, but registers a location when it cannot continuously receive a transmission signal from a registered fixed wireless device for a certain period of time. Submit a registration request. This reduces the number of times location registration requests are sent, reduces power consumption, and reduces interference with call origination and call processing. Furthermore, even if the user moves to a boundary between a plurality of fixed wireless devices, location registration is not performed alternately between the plurality of fixed wireless devices.
